Best Hi-Brite monitor for Archer 2

Hi Eric,

If you can, go to NAB or Cinegear and check out monitors in person. Cinegear is outside, so you'll have a better chance of seeing how they perform in daylight. Also possible at a rental house - ask them nicely (and maybe bring cookies) if you can check out a few different monitors one day in their parking lot. Personally, I settled on the smallHD 703. It can be blindly reflective when angled directly at the sun, but has otherwise been wonderful for day exterior work. I'm still exploring solutions to solve the reflectivity (custom cut anti-reflective glass being one).

Happy flying!

Lisa

In the lower price end I got Must HD 7inch HyperBrite, shot outdoors and can be seen clearly, I usually ask for a small flag to grips to work around reflexivity. It comes with a braket for tilting, sunhood, v-mount plate, sdi in and out.

i own two transvideos. expensive, but not overpriced, the value is in the great tools inside that beast. also the weight is great so that you can better achieve dynamic balance with two batteries on the back mounts of a rig. small hd is fine, some good features, but i have had a lot of trouble with long turnaround on repairs. if you get a small hd then get two. i have two of everything anyways but i would definitely have two of those. use a matte screen protector for the glare.

bon also makes some great monitors that should be considered

I have a Boland BVB07 on my Archer 2 and it's been nice. Has an ultra bright function and some traditional features like horizon level. Only thing I had frustrations with earlier on was the image not flipping when in low mode and wishing I had a yoke that didn't need allen wrenches to flip it. But if you can program one of the SDI outputs on the camera to flip for village monitors then you're good.
