Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted February 28, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 28, 2004 Hi Guillermo, Just going quickly through my files I found that picture below... The PRO vest doesn't have much foam, but the quality, density and amount are just right. A very nicely made Vest... I still miss mine... (Serial #107... anyone?) The picture on the Website is the original one from Chris Haarhoffs vest (Serial #002. Mark O'Kane, who is the designer, has #001) without backstraps... Finally someone else with pictures... post away... BTW: Whom are you calling an Ass??? Erwin "sball pedrole... eh... Spell patrol" Landau, SOC PS: The attachments and/or links that you send me are not working...

Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted March 2, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 2, 2004 Erwin, you must be the most photographed person since Princess Di -- I think you are on film more than the actors you shoot...what's up with that? I think you've one upped J-Lo and Ben for paparazzi pics -- A very effective way of removing these vultures is the time honored method of violence (a'la Alec B, Sean Penn, Tommy Lee). I'm a puss, so I can't teach you any decent moves, but swinging that new 2" post of Greg's like Babe Ruth should do the trick. and now the obligitory smilie... :)

He takes his camera to the set (well everywhere) and asks the PA's or Camera Assistants to snap a bunch of pictures. That's why he has so many pictures of himself. It's kind of like his diary, but he uses photos instead. :D

Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted March 5, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 5, 2004 i was wopndering if the pro vest its made of aluminum or titanuin ?and this vest have safeti eject ? hahahahaha Hi Guillermo, It's Aluminium. No the Vest has no brake away function. If I recall correct then George and Mark O'Kane were experimenting on an emergency release, were just the Arm Socket get's "ejected". But they never came up with a safe and effective solution so they abandoned that Idea. I also only know of a handful of operator that ever had to pull the release... Garrett and a Rhino are coming to mind... and some boat and a Panaflex sunken to the bottom of the mediterrainian sea... But most of the time the quick release did not work properly, it would release the shoulder pads and would stop with the whole equipment still attached to the waist. Makes for an even harder getaway... I heard a rumor that the DSD was supposed to come with a little detonator that would get rid of the carbon fiber arm when the operator would push a button... I was working on a Music Video a couple of years back with my PRO Vest, when a Key grip refused to spot me because of a bad experience where he pulled a Vest apart, by accident... Even after showing him that my Vest did not have anything like that, he still refused and assigned the Dolly Grip as my spotter. I have to agree with George's philosophy that if you have to consider to pull that quick release, you shouldn't be there in the first place... Play it safe... Erwin "What's that button...kabooom!!!... Ooops, Sorry" Landau, SOC
