This is discussed on other forums like cinematography.com and CML, so far, it is just a mock up at the NAB, and a lot of air, as I have understood, so keep breathing while waiting for this to happen. :D

There are others that promise similar camera´s but have already something more substantial. Read more on CML!

I agree, except one of the cages looks like it was designed with the AR in mind. So I thought it might have relevance.

As people attached to the steadicam community are also attached to the development of this camera... I would try and hang around here.

What would you change/add to that camera to make it operator and steadicam friendly/friendlier?

We'll see by the end of the year if it ends up being vaporware or not...

So far everybody at the booth at NAB was very ears to hear what to do better/different.

Fly safe,

looking at the amazing machinework of the mockup body I thought more of scuba diving than steadicam.

truly the gun stock and camera framework travel in the world of very strange. The very military looking gunstock accessory would have been more at home at the NRA convention than the NAB.... Although the camera may be alien ready..... it looked more like the design work of aliens..... the strange framework reminded me more of Howards earlier effort at lower box design, that sorta tinker toy lotsa tubes n holes look.

Although airware they claim to have a major designer from the varicam and of course a sunglasses millionaire in back of it..... perhaps ultimately it will become an all format camera that looks like a pair of cool shades....

The great thing here is not the prototype..... but that other than sonypanasonicjvcgrassvalleyhitachi have started to realize that there is a terrific market for real electronic cinema cameras. That tape is dead. That the markup on these things has been little less than crazy.

Less obvious were several companies developing magazines for film cameras with sensors instead of film in the gate. Here you get an optical viewfinder, a familiar camera layout, part of the price being a piece of gear you already own,a composite video output from the video tap, and use of lenses and accessories, you already have.

Perhaps the camera of the future looks like an AatonLTR, Eclair ACL, ArriSr, etc. Lighter cheaper and faster to use.

Yes the adapting of a current film camera is something already done with medium format stills cameras. I can't seeing such a setup being cheap. The advantage though would be that upgrading the sensor is just a matter of getting a different mag.

Joe Dunton (JDC in the U.K. and Wilmington, NC) did this with an SR3 a couple of years ago. Basically an HD back with a sensor that looked like an alien SR mag. I saw it up an running once, I have no idea what ever came of it.

I know that the problem with putting digital mags on film cameras has always been trying to get the prism s close enough to the lens to split the light correctly. Which is a thing of the past now that a single CMOS sensor replaces the three RGB chips.

Is it just me or has cinemtography.com gotten a whole lot worse and un-professional? Have you read the posts some of these guys leave over there? I'm not talking about Jim Jannard, but the reactions to his post. I'm actually a bit shocked

I want to give out a big thank you to our moderators for keeping this forum clean and professional. Thank you.

I know this post has nothing to do with Steadicam, but needed to say this.

The Dutch saying: (translated) High Trees Get A Lot Of Wind

If you promiss so much as Jim does, it is logical you get a lot of sceptics reacting.

Until now, he has shown something, but it is still not ready for any reliable, professional use, let alone the post-production side of it.

it would be very good if he pulls it off, but until now his Hype-machine has been working overtime and professionals (of which there are plenty on that list) are most of the time knowledgeble enough to break that down.
