Premium Members Lucas Heinze Posted July 14, 2020 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 14, 2020 Hi All, I have a question on Lowmode. Yesterday I had a shoot where I was only in Lowmode. I put 3 heavy Batteries at the end of the post to get the gimbal as low as possible (high in lowmode), I extended the post a bit and I used a Lowmode Camera Handle Clamp to flip the camera so it is upright in lowmode. Like this I was able to stand up straght but my question is: Does it even make sense to balance the rig this bottom heavy? Thanks!
Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted July 15, 2020 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 15, 2020 Balance normally. You don't want a big pendular moment as you move around in low mode any more than you would in high mode. 1
RobinThwaites
Getting a dedicated low mode plate from the camera rental company will gain you a couple of inches maybe and be more rigid than a handle clamp. Also a third battery mount would help. Then as Jerry says balance for normal drop time with the camera down.
Premium Members Lucas Heinze Posted July 16, 2020 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted July 16, 2020 Thanks Jerry! @RobinThwaites ahh they had this plate at the rental house I just didn‘t know for what I would need it :) but yeah I wasn‘t really happy with the handly clamp it just wasn‘t perfectly tight. I had a normal droptime with this setup and I had three batteries mounted at the bottom (including the one for the monitor) and the rig was already way too bottom heavy (top heavy when turned upside down for low mode). Idon‘t know why I would need a third battery mount.
