Max Jordan
Hi, So I recently purchased an older Proaim Flycam. It seems to work well enough with some mods, but I'm now noticing a weird issue. I can balance the rig correctly one direction, but when I rotate the rig the opposite direction, it's off balance. I can't for the life of me figure out why it would do that. Is it just a issue with it being cheaply made, or is there something different that I can fix? Thanks, Max
David Thomas
The gimbal is not centered on the post and the post is probably not round. Pretty much un fixable on those rigs. it’s one of the reasons that everyone won’t by the cheap crap
Max Jordan
What part specifically is off? Is it the yolk part, or another piece?
Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted September 11, 2020 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 11, 2020 Most likely the centering of the pan bearing to the yoke is the culprit, based on the pictures. You might be able to shim it to get it more centered. More expensive rigs either have some mechanism to adjust this centering and/or much better machining and control of tolerances. You got what you paid for...
