Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have a resident battery expert for Anton/Bauer on staff now. He joined us at the end of 2020 and he has now joined the steadicamforum. Here are his contact details:

Ted Doubov

ted.doubov@vitecgroup.com

(203)402-7995 direct number

I'm not on the site as much as I'd like to be, and I am still a resource for anyone here, but you'll see Ted's name popping up more than mine. If you contact me, I will still always answer you, so please don't think that I am leaving the community. I enjoy reading all of the posts to understand what is happening in the industry.

I look forward to hopefully seeing a lot of you again soon! Let's hope this Pandemic goes away soon.

Best Wishes for a Great 2021!

Regards,

Paul

Let's all cross our fingers for a healthy and productive 2021.

Best wishes to all,

Hey Ted and Paul,

I'm a new steadicam operator and I am doing some research into rigs and what I'd like to get as my first set. I was recommended by staff at Arri to get Anton/Bauer batteries for the sled. I am not specifically looking at Arri for a sled. Other options are, SmartSystem, GPI and Tiffen (at the moment SmartSystem is the leading option). I just wondered if you had a recommendation on which type of battery I should look for when deciding what I'm going to mount on the sled.

Most likely I'll be looking for a V-lock, set of 4 batteries with charging station to power the monitor and camera/accessories.

If you have any advice, that would be great. Hope you are well.

Hi Lee

The main question I would have to ask Why V-Lock mount ?

I have been a steadicam op for many years and the only time ever my batteries have come off my rig is when I have had V-Locks on it .

It is a very poor mount IMP .Never has a AB come off my rig .For me AB gold mount is the only way to go .

As to which batt's all come down to what cameras you want to power but the Titon 90 or 150 will cover most options ok .Paul Dudeck has been a great support to the steadicam community over many many years so I would like to thank him for his help  .

I welcome you Ted Doubov to our community and I look forward to buying some new Batt's when my other AB's die .

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the note! Pleasure to hear from you. Congrats on getting started on steadicams - there are certainly quite a few options out there to consider. As far as Anton/Bauer goes, we have operators that use our Titon, Titon SL, and DIonic XT lines depending on application. More than happy to review options with you based on your situation - I'll shoot you a private message with my contact information and we can chat about it at your convenience.

Talk soon,

Ted
