Premium Members Loren Hamilton Posted October 5, 2021 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 5, 2021 Hello, So I was listening to the Walking Backwards podcast and during one of the conversations the guest op was mentioning the "newer version" of the Volt, which I believe he said smaller motors and maybe something else. Does anyone know the difference between a v1 and a v2 version of the Volt, if there is one?
Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted October 5, 2021 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 5, 2021 Not sure about the smaller motors (don't think so) but one difference is the encoder ring is built into the gimbal, which I believe gives it slightly more clearance above the gimbal. Premium Members Loren Hamilton Posted October 10, 2021 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted October 10, 2021 Interesting, I'm guessing that comes standard on all new-to-order Volts nowadays?
Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted October 10, 2021 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 10, 2021 I believe so. I'm hearing several complaints about the manufacturing tolerances and reliability of the newer Volt gimbals. I've got the V1 version which I've had for almost 2 years and have had no real problems other than the pause switch on the brain box (this is built in to the M2 sleds) getting hard to switch and was quickly replaced by Tiffen at no charge.
