Video SK2 Post Upgrade HELP!

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to figure out how to DIY this or find someone that works on posts to help me. I have a Video SK2 and the bnc doesn't support HD signals since it is so old. I already flipped the polarity of the lemo out so it doesn't fry any accessories I plug in up top, but i'm wondering if anyone has any guidance on replacing the BNC line running down the post.

Or if anyone knows anyone that could do this for me, that would be great too!

I'm also wondering if there is a place I can buy an additional post segment as i'd like to get a little bit more length on as well. Any help would be appreciated!

I also posted this in the center post forum as well.

Hey Trevan – weird timing! I'm trying to restore a Video SK as well.

I'll let you know what I can when I find out.

Is the Lemo wired wrong on the SK?

Yes, it's from the days of analog stuff so the polarity is the opposite compared to most accessories you'd want to use today. Thankfully it's pretty easy to do if you know how to solder. You just have to pull the socket out, unsolder the connectors, flip them, and re-solder it. I also took that moment to rotate it so my right angle cables drop down instead of to the side.

I'll let you know what a figure out with it, I may have some time to really take a look at it all this week.

Hey hey - do you know if the top power socket could pull enough juice for a Red or even Alexa Mini?

It should be able to, I believe it's unregulated power so as long as you have a battery supplying enough voltage you should be good.

Also, you're not missing a section, it's just a very small post rig. That's why I'm looking for anyone with extra 4 pin posts that may work with it haha.

Hi Nikolay!

If you ever get a chance to share more details of your conversion, I'm sure Travan and I – and everyone else on the forum – would love to see.

Particularly the materials of the extra post

And the details of the donkey box on the bottom..

It's a great adaptation of the SK – what weight camera are you flying on it?

Thanks!
