Archos Pin outs

I did some soldering this weekend and I just want to add a slight correction to Eric's wireing instructions. I took the video input lead off the recorder/playback switch (comes from the center post Lemo). This was located on the bottom pin of the switch. This I resoldered to the input of the VAC amp. I then took an output from the amp and soldered it back to that pin. I removed only the recorder-in lead from the center pin, leaving the monitor lead on it and soldered that lead to another output of the amp. I also took the video input lead off of the transmitter Lemo and soldered another to it coming from a third output on the amp. This gave me 3 isolated outputs on the bottom of the sled. No more level drop on my monitor when adding the recorder and/or the transmitter. Nice.

The Archos end is as follows:

Purple is +5 Volts Center of the DC Coax

Grey is Power Ground and the shield of the DC Coax

Dark Green is Video in

Yellow is Video Out

Blacks are grounds EXCEPT For the Small Shiny Black which is Audio Out Right channel

Brown Left Audio Out

Red Audio in Right

Orange Audio in Left

Light Green and Blue are the Trigger leads to start and stop the recorder when it's in pause.

If you have any question fire away

I just wired up a new cable from the docking pod connector. I found in my cable, at least, the video out was WHITE not YELLOW. Also used one of the bare shields for video ground. Hope this helps.

You are now the second person to have a yellow Video out, I just a spare cable for myself and it had a white video out like my first.

Looks like their supplier really didn't care about color codes. That's just peachy.

Hi fellas,

I'm making this Archos cable up for my EFP. I'm wondering if I need the DA, or if I can make the cable with 2 heads, and plug it right into the 12v, and the Video out on the bottom of the sled. (I haven't thought yet how to get signal to the Cinemon3. I'm already using the multi plug for power/video from the sled)

I'd love to save the money for the DA, but if not having it is going to make the video all janky, then I'll have to get it.

Thanks

I don't have an answer for the rest, but I think 12V will fry the Archos. I believe you need something in the neighborhood of 5V. Anyone know for sure?

Who's got them? this is for the AV500 (And I think AV700) I'm looking mostly for the video out pin. I've got power, Video in and video ground figured out I just need Video out and I'm set.

Thanks

Hi Eric,

Bud Kremp here. Hope all's well on "Hanging Out...".

Any idea where I can get a pwr cable to pwr my Archos from the rig? Or are you trying to make your own? If the latter, may I ask for your assitance on making my own?

All the best! And thanks again!

Bud Kremp
