Premium Members Galen Murray Posted February 15 Premium Members Report Posted February 15 Hey All! I'm curious what types of plates you carry in your kit? I ran into a shoot recently where I ended up having to leave the shoulder rig on an Alexa 35 because I didn't have the right adapter plate. Love Arri, but it made me wanna throw the camera. I have an SOS already, as well as a small Wooden Camera unified baseplate system with mounts for FX6/9 and just ordered one for the Mini/MiniLF. Are there any other plates you all like to keep in your kit? Thanks! Quote

Premium Members Louis Puli SOC Posted February 16 Premium Members Report Posted February 16 What I regularly do is get all the camera crew details before the shoot . I would then contact them all for all the details so if need be go to the rental house and get what ever you need . 1 Quote
Premium Members Benoit C. Gauthier Posted February 18 Premium Members Report Posted February 18 More and more, the Alexa 35 kits include a ‘’SAM-‘’ plate for use with different stabilisers, or the rental house have a spare one in the drawers, but I always carry my Apex/PRO plate. https://gpiprosystems.com/products/arri-35-universal-stabilizer-plate I know some Mini LF kits also need a slimmer version of the SAM Plate, Cam-Jam has a good system of plates too https://shop.cam-jam.de/product/universal-plate-for-arri-cbp/ Most other camera systems and cages don’t need specific plates. Although I have found that Peter’s Long Plate came in to save the day multiple times. https://zalex-products.com/longplates/ And Tori Will’s blue plates were also handy to have both for the Wave1 builds and funky weirdo builds where I needed a little extra height between the long plate and the lens: https://twsteadi.com/tw-rigworks-store I probably act like I need a belt and suspenders to hold my pants up, but I carry all those plates in my kit and go in for a prep day just to make sure! 1 Quote
Premium Members Benoit C. Gauthier Posted February 18 Premium Members Report Posted February 18 I also have a short 6’’ Arri BP style Dovetail, that is useful with some 416 builds… but surely if you shoot on the 416 you’ll get a day of prep and find what you need at the rental house! 1 Quote

Premium Members Galen Murray Posted March 3 Author Premium Members Report Posted March 3 Ya, @John Buzz Moyer, I'm getting mostly last minute low budget projects right now as I get my steadicam established in this network, but I'm pushing more and more to have a prep day to save my sanity and headaches on set.
