Josh Mason Posted May 18 Report Posted May 18 Hey guys, I have been an operator for several years, and I still practice as needed. One thing that drives me crazy is horizon levels. I feel I'll become a much better operator if I master leveling out my shots better. Does anyone here have a technique they practice to help balance their shots? I currently own a Steadicam Zephyr. Kevin Kisling Posted May 22 Report Posted May 22 Hi Josh! Sounds like you need to have a lighter touch on the gimbal. Work on doing the box drill at various speeds and you'll see how the rig wants to pendulum, now work on preventing that with your pinkie finger and dropping your thumb when needed. At first it takes a lot of thought, but after awhile it'll become muscle memory! 1 Quote
Josh Mason Posted May 26 Author Report Posted May 26 Thank you Kevin! I will try that as soon as I can, it's probably my biggest hurtle as an operator. Quote
Kevin Kisling Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 It just takes time. Be kind to yourself and keep practicing! Quote
