Anton Bauer question

I have a bunch of Proformers, some of which have been recelled in the past, some still with the original cells. One of the recelled ones has suddenly refused to be recognized by any of my chargers. I scraped the terminals on the battery and tried the charger ports with other batteries, everything worked, execpt the Proformer.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Jamie.

I had an issue with one of my ProPacs that wouldn't be recognised by the charger. As Torch says, there is an internal wire connection which can burn out, meaning the connection between the cells themselves and the terminal is lost. However, this should be protected by the external fuse which on ProPacs and Hytrons is on the rear of the battery, at the Gold Mount, and is easily replacable, or just swop it with the spare fuse opposite.

The best solution would be to contact Anton/Bauer directly and see what they can tell you. You can send your battery in for analysis if it is just that battery in particular that is causing you problems.

Jamie,

I don't believe that the Proformer has an external fuse, so cracking the case may be necessary. This, of course, voids the warranty, but I suspect that is long gone. Also, if recelled, I suspect AB will want nothing to do with it. Really too bad they discontinued the buggers; I'm a huge fan of AB batteries and the company, but when my Performers die, I'll be forced to recell since nothing else they make fits the bill.

Cheers,

Hello Jamie,

The proformer comes standard with a Sanyo N1900CSR cell, a small resistor, and a thremal harness with three thermals in series in the harness. If you have scrapped the oxidation off of the contacts and still have an issue it could be as simple as an internal wire being broken inside the insulator or it will be one of the three thermal senosrs. Sometimes when recelling clients packs we discover these issues, resolve the problem and continue the recell for the client.

We have been recelling batteries since 1989 and have true engineers. Not only do we do battery recells but we also build new batteries for many markets, repair battery chargers, do media servicing, media storage -NAS, IO controller technicians, etc.
