Premium Members Philip J. Martinez SOC Posted January 3, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 3, 2007 Hi All I'm wondering what batteries people are useing to power the 435. I have read a lot of the forum and see what does not work very well the AB Dionic's I have (they run the F900 great) so if you were starting from scrach what would you get? Thank You, Philip

Andrey Yazydzhi
Philip,I use the two A/B Hitron50 and ARRI 435 runs at 150f/sec perfectly, but I changed them after every 5 takes. At 25-75f/sec I can work a lot of hours.(A/B Hitron50 are of NiMH elements - this is better to power such cameras as ARRI 435 then Li-ion Dionic's). Premium Members Anders Holck Petersen Posted February 23, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 23, 2007 Just came back from a shoot today, my first one with a 435 ES. I have the Clipper II 12v, but have done a 24v mod thru the Gyro connector (The same way as mr. Konash) I currently use cheap 160Wh Li-Ion cells from GMP, and with my mod use two pairs of two batteries (Two paralleled in series) Well I'm happy to report that it reached 150 FPS no problem, and lasted all day without changing a single battery. (Mainly 50 fps though) While the G50 was at it's max lift, it still performed great. At the end of the day the booster cells were still at 100%, the rear ones were at 20%, The voltage was still around 30v. I think Ill try just a single lighter booster cell tomorrow. Premium Members Guido Lux Posted February 24, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 24, 2007 Hi Anders! Where did you buy your gmp batteries??I took a look on their website and they offer almost all brands of battries way under price!I don't know if they're trustworthy?? A dionic90 for 246 Euros!!!That is by far the cheapest I've seen!Have you ordered there?? Guido Lux www.globalmediapro.com
Premium Members Anders Holck Petersen Posted February 26, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 26, 2007 First, be aware that all brand items are grey imports. GMP is not a licensed reseller of any of the brand names. Thats how they get their low prices. Of course this means that they can undercut any official reseller, you have to choose if you like that thought or not. Having said that, I have ordered a batch of their no name LI-ION batteries a few times. (Thru, www.globalmediapro.com) They have an ok user support (For an internet reseller) No problems what so ever. They have a danish bank account where i transferred the money, and the delivery was swift. I know a few persons that have ordered HDV cameras from them when HDV was in it's hayday, also no problem (with delivery that is, HDV suck big time) Feel free to skype me if you have any questions... Premium Members william west Posted July 9, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 9, 2007 Can anyone give me an answer on which batteries will run a 435? I am starting from scratch with a pro sled and seem to be getting very confused about which are the best batteries (and how many) to go with.I would have chosen hytron 50's but have heard varying reports that they wont run a 435 at high speed...(or in some caes even at 24fps!) Have also heard the same about the dionic series, although i am not so keen on them as a 3hr charge time would seem to need a huge amount of batteries and chargers to keep up... would love to hear anyones experiences running these batteries... Hi William, I had to face the same issue, in the place where I'm based we use to fly 535 and 435. On my Nexus, suggested by Howard Smith (MK-V), I adapted a second set of batteries, Pag LOKON20,(adapted because they made me a v-lock system that is the one I already have on my sled). I just receive it and I'll test it on the 12th and 13th on set, if you are inerested I'll let you know. Hope it can help Best Fabrizio Sciarra Edited July 10, 2007 by Fabrizio Sciarra

Premium Members pauldudeck Posted July 10, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 10, 2007 William, The issues with the HyTRON 50's that people are referring to are mainly with batteries that are about one year old or older AND is only when you are running them at high speed (150fps). The issue is when you run them at high speed, the high current draw causes a dip in voltage, which dips below the operating voltage of the camera and causes it to turn off. The same thing applies to the Dionic 90's and all other lithium ion batteries. Most batteries will work great for the first 6-12 months of operation, because they can handle the high current draw of the high speed camera without a problem. As any battery ages, the cells get weaker and can't handle that spike in current and causes a voltage drop that shuts the camera down. If you are not going to run the 435 at high speeds, then virtually any battery will work fine for you. I have heard of people using either Proformer batteries or Trimpacs for high speed applications. The cells in them are sub-C or full-C size cells and can handle the high current draws without any issues. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Paul Dudeck
