They used to just appear in the mail but I haven't gotten any and really don't want to pay, and with the deadline coming up... Anyone? Click "Exhibits Only Form" on right sidebar 4. Go through the registration process using VIP Pass info 5. Enter Code: JT24 at the end. I just completed this process and it does work. Rich Steel Posted April 19, 2004 Author Report Share Posted April 19, 2004 Well, the show's been open for 2 whole days now and not one sniff of a picture of new bit's n' bob's or for that matter new technologies (HDV etc) come on guy's drag yourselves away from the exhibits for an hour and upload some of those pictures for us unfortunates who can't get out. Wicked_Chicken Posted April 22, 2004 Report Share Posted April 22, 2004 Well Everyone, I'm Back! I just got home from NAB 2004, and what a show it was. Aside from leaving a trail of drool through-out the multi-hall convention center, I got a chance to fly several rigs, Including... The Mk-V, The (New) Steadicam Ultra, The Glidecam Gold, The Prototype Glidecam V-35 w/ V20 Sled. The Satchler Artemis Cine HD and Video. Now, it's not my place to say how things worked. It was my first day ever flying anything, but I can tell you how things felt. The first rig I had a chance to fly was the Glidecam Gold with the Anton Bauer base. It was really, reall odd at first, but after a few minutes of toying with it, things where great. The arm the first was a bit stiff for the load, but I went back and flew it later after it had been fixed, and it was amazing!!! I got a chance to fly the MK-V rig as well with the back mounted vest. This may be just me, but it felt heavy. Really heavy. It might have been the camera or the sled weight, but for me, it felt a bit sluggish. One again, I don't think the rig is at fault. I'm betting it's my own lack of experience. The Glidecam V35. (I didn't say any of this!) The Glidecam 435 Prototype looks pretty sweet from what I got to see. It looks like a gold arm, but a bit toned down (and colored!!!) They had 3 models there, Red, Blue, and Black. The vest looks alot like a cross of the v20 and the gold. it looks like it will be left/right reversable, and the gimble looks solid, though I didnt get the chance to fly it with the v35 sled (they hadn't mounted a camera on it yet.) So, to answer a question that is bound to pop up. Yes, it was stated during a few conversations that glidecam is seeking to discontinue the V8/16/20 series, and the v35 will be the new model. Let me restate: The model was literally overnighted to Glidecam at their room the night before the show started. It is not done undergoing changes, as to be expected. No price range or timeframe was given for its release. The Satchler Rig. I really liked this rig. Every single thing about it stood out. The base look much like the Glidecam gold anton base, but it's packed with more goodies than I can even remember. I had a hard time with a heavier load, but with a different camera mounted, this rig flew as smooth as can be. I got to follow Jon from www.glidecamcentral.com around the booth, and it was almost as easy as it looks The asking price was in the 29k range, which, (if i had it) would have been spent. it had loads of very well thought out functions and tools, including a built in wireless mount under the mounting plate! And lastly, the new Steadicam. I got to fly this rig about 10 minutes before the show closed down. It had been released at 9am the same morning! This rig was great. It was a bit heavy, but I was able to move around without much trouble. I dont really know what to say, other than sweet mother of all things good and yummy! All in all, every rig I got to test was great. I wish I could give more details, but as I said earlier, I dont want to think I know everything. Every single booth I talked to was incredible. Steadicam, Glidecam, MK-V, Satchler, I want to thank everyone for their time and willingness to help me and answer my questions! Thanks!
