Premium Members Jeremy Benning Posted May 15, 2004 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted May 15, 2004 hehe: I took that shot of Matias doing lowmode thru water fountains in BsAs... I am trying once again to post this image. I was on vacation in Buenos Aires for 4 weeks this March. Matias and I met in Toronto when he flew up here in December to pick up his new harness. Walter asked me if I would mind bringing my rig in for Matias to test fly his new harness, and I was more than happy to (Eric Oh and I have become the steadicam welcome wagon at Walter's when he gets out-of-town ops coming in for fittings - we will happily bring our rigs in for anyone who comes to town who wants to test out their new harness, and we'll show you around town too). We had a great time that weekend - in fact a few of us went down to the cinema to catch Elephant with Matias (he had not seen it yet!). What a cool way to see a steadicam-heavy film - with the actual op!! Then we all went out for sushi and sake and talked. The next day we did the CN Tower (I hadn't been up in years!!!) and and a movie at my place (War Photographer - highly recommended viewing!) with a bunch of our friends. Matias was kind enough to invite me down for a work/play vacation in Argentina, and since I was planning on being in Brazil for Carnaval (in Salvador), I thought it would be a good chance to meet the local film scene there. I did a few days work there and loved the people, the energy - totally enjoyed myself. I met his lovely wife and little boy - I felt totally at home there and look forward to going back next year. I posted several of my crew shots on www.crewpix.com I thoroughly loved my time in BA - fantastic food, people, culture. It was my first real long vacation in years, and was kind of my reward to myself for paying off my rig last year (I was a very good boy during that time). I worked with great crews there (1st AC's Ricardo and Fernando, gaffer Adrian Caiafa, DP Juan Carlos Ferro). Loved the yerba mate, wine, and Mantecol - mmmm.... jeremy The meeting of two rigs in Argentina...L>R: Matias Mesa's custom modified Elite stage, carbon fibre post, TB-6 Monitor w/Jerry Rig lower section...on the right - my XCS Ultimate sled, plus NASA sticker. Premium Members Ramon Engle Posted May 18, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 18, 2004 Nice Pics Guillermo. Tough job running through a water fountain on slick stone! Ballsy! So is the ad at the bottom of the page. I think it qualifies as a STEADICRAM advertisment. sorry, couldn't resist. Ramon
Premium Members Jeremy Benning Posted May 18, 2004 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted May 18, 2004 the link that guillermo posted didn't work for me, here's the photo again. There was some clever sandbagging of certain fountain heads to carve a slight path for the camera - and the skillful dance around them. jeremy
Premium Members Matias Mesa Posted June 1, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 1, 2004 I´m back at home and safe. Thaks Guillermo for the nice comments on my behalf and Jeremmy, you are allways welcome in my home any time. I just wrap this movie in NY, very little steadicam, boring film for a steadicam operator but since I was A camera operator, I had my share os fun. Great guys I met in NY, the Crew there was awsome. Thaks for the Pics jeremy. I will call you tomorrow. Best to all. Matias
