One thing I hate about Anton Bauer and one question

I love the bateries, the system in general, etc. But wht on earth don't they use backlit display on the chargers. I usualy have them in dark envirnonments and I can't see the Display for when I put bateries on charge.

 

One question.

What is the best method for storing Nicd's if they are not going to be used for many months?

Yhay are Brand new and want to store them for some time. Tips??

Hi Matias,

 

Have the same beef about the display... but on the set I'm using only the TWQ... no worries that the Smart charger could start to test the batteries ore some nonsense like that. Happened all the time with my 2702's. With the TWQ they just charge.

 

I have a bunch of Trimpacs (12) and Proformers (20). They last forever. Charge them and let them sit, (they will self discharge over time, so charge them before each use) but there is not the same danger as with the Dionics, which will die anyway, if used or not.

If they are new just put them on the shelf and use them when you want. Recelling is inexpensive (about $120.- per unit).

Thanks for the info, I thought there was some sort of special tip like keep them at 40% charge and place them in the freezer. But aparently not. What happenend with my past Propacs is that after a while without being on the charger they will discharge beyond recovery point and they will die and take a tip to the recelling facility. Hope this doesn't happen now.....

Hi Matias,

 

I was told by the specialist of the company which sells A/B here in Germany that NiCd Batteries have the least discharge characteristic at 8 Degree Celsius. So he recommended if you want to store NiCd more than half a year to put them 100% charged in a closed plastic sack (to keep the batteries dry) in a fridge.

 

As for the discharge beyond recovery point of your ProPacs. I found out that if this happens to my Trimpacs, my intelligent 2702 Quad charger won't rejuve those batteries but my solid Twin Fast charger without display does after a while. I usually put the batteries on and off the charger several time, have them around 2-3 minutes on the charger with the lights flashing red-green, then take them off and immediately on again. After a while the red light flashes and the charger starts to charge the batteries again.
