Premium Members Joshua Harrison Posted September 19, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 19, 2007 Hey all, I don't know if it's been covered anywhere or not, but if you are flying the Genesis in one-piece mode you can power off the deck while you are setting up and rehearsing. The only time it needs to be powered up is when you are recording. This should save power enough so your batteries are getting trashed as much. Just a thought. Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted September 19, 2007 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 19, 2007 Panavision has developed a new Hard/Flash drive based recorder for the Genesis. I saw pictures, it's about half the size of the old recorder. Nice! Does anybody know more about it? Jens
Jim Hurwitz
The Panavision fiber system that we used last summer was single channel of HD-SDI, which means running dual cables for 4:4:4--pretty silly, considering how much signal you can run through fiber. Hrrrmmmm that may have been the system that Jim Hurwitz was telling me about. It's not a Telecast system BTW. The Copperhead will pass a 4:4:4 signal over a single fiber. Jim was also telling me about a Dual link Fiber they have that is more for redundancy that bandwidth. Eric, I just joined the Forum... Finally, the Holy Grail that we've been discussing for years is on its way! Over the next few months, we are rolling out the next generation of CopperHead technology, including several models that are Dual Link capable, each of which can work on the tactical fiber cable, or the hybrid cable to deliver power to the rig... More info to come when I can release it (but look out for CopperHead models 3400, DLV and Steadicam-friendly "Fiber Buddy").
