Brian Hart
I'm considering an Archos 604wifi as a recorder. I read about how alot of ops are using the 400s. I'm assuming the two are about the same. Can anyone tell me If I'm making the right choice.

I know two of us are using the 604 wifi and with the software update to allow you to keep the backlight and auto shut off function from engaging it' works great. You have to get a cable made to accomodate 12v to 5v, but other than that it's great
Premium Members Gus Trivino Posted July 29, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 29, 2008 I´m using the Archos 604, but without downconverter 12V to 5V. The Archo´s batterie after 1 year is ok and I can use it 1 day without charge. Remember to buy the ¨DVR travel Adaptor¨ without this accesorie you can´t get video signal from the sled. http://www.archos.com/products/video/archo...bal&lang=en best to all, Gus. Hey Job, The travel adapter looks big but it's not and it weighs nothing . . . But . . . . . I was thinking about buying another one and taking it apart and breaking it down to a smaller one cable type thing . . .it's just getting the time to do it that kills me. Im using the Archos 605 wi-fi with a cable made from Terry West- and it does use the travel adaptor (which as Rob says weighs nothing) I had to break the two tabs off on the adaptor to make it work with the 605. Hey Rob, where did you get the software update? Rich
Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted August 12, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 12, 2008 As said before the travel adapter is actually rather small. As far as breaking the travel adapter down goes I don't think you could get it much smaller as it actually contains a bit of electronics and the circuit board isn't that much smaller than the travel adapter. ~Jess
