Wow ! i guess immediate was the wrong word to use around here:)

Im sorry if i gave the impression that Howard should get sole credit for all his collaborations with other companies: that was not my intent.

Im also sorry if i gave the impression that howards new team just cranked all this stuff out in the last two weeks on their own: that was also not my intent.

The point of the post was to comment on how well the products work, irespective of who built them. Howards not trying to take credit from any other company, and i find it pretty insulting that you think im niave enough to not appreciate the years of R&D, hard work, and personnal/finanncial sacrifice that goes into bulding any product for this or any other business. Immediate is a relevant term.

Is it just me or is there way too much tension on the forum of late? I think we all need a group hug and some alchohol.

Now then,

Would mk-v be interested for making mods for light steadi rigs like the flyer ?

I am probably getting one to teach kids with and i could probably do with some tweeks here and their.

I have a small problem with center post being a tad on the thin side. I know that i shouldn't be gripin the post like a monkey on heat. However if i'm doing pans i would like better finger grip control. You might say i like a bit of girth  (ah i dont mean that kinda girth).

Bearing in mind i dont own one yet tho, i'm sure i will find more things i wana upgrade. How about a front back mount vest ? maybe thats a walter klassen challenge.

Cheers

Matt

Hi Matt

Thank you for your question - well if you are around for the BSC New Equipment show (Elstree studios, London 18th - 19th March) you can come and use the sled you are asking for - it is the MK-V lite - I have designed it to work with the flyer arm (and of course all others), it is a simple and lightweight fully professional sled, with 12v and 24v as standard. And it also can be upgraded to a 2" post and Nexus base system. - I fly my 2C on it with the flyer arm and the arm is only half way.

We will have lots of other Very nice toys there as well!

Regarding the front back mount - this is something Garrett was very interested in - he had a vest made (very nice as well). I had a go of it and yes it is much better than a front mount, but the back mount is still more comfortable, for me anyway.

Hope this helps, if you have any other questions please email or call me.

Speak to you soon

All the best

Howard

Hi Bob

Sorry - I haven't had time to visit the forum recently - sooo busy with the AR's (and the Lite)

And sorry I did not get your email.

The Lite is great - I have been using it with the 235 (400' new steadymag and big primes with LDS) and it was sweet, sadly a little too heavy for the flyer arm. - but with 200' it would be great.

(but with say a PRO arm with 2 blue springs in - Promo/running rig heaven!)

We are finishing the system off in time for the BSC New Equipment show at Elstree next weekend - as soon as I have all the new 'bits', I will get some photos up for you (if I can work it out) if not I will email you direct (via the forum)

the price is looking good around the $ 12,500 (without monitor)

we have the new Genesis gimbal - this is a 1.5" cost effective version of the V2 Advanced Gimbal.

This sled is great for all the smaller cameras PD170 etc. but it still uses all the standard MK-V parts so you can upgrade to a full 2" 4 stage post and Nexus of you wish.

Hope this is of some help.

Look forward to hearing from you please email me at howard@mk-v.com

many thanks

Howard

Interesting. And as is usually the case with knock-offs, a wee tad too late out of the gate.

Why look at someone else's knock-off of a Flyer, when you can look at the real F-24 Flyer? Runs 12 or 24 Volts, and comes with a monitor- a High Def monitor at that - for less money than Howard just said in this thread that he is asking for his lightweight rig. ( $ 12,500.00 )

-sigh- Days late, many dollars too much.

Try the real Flyer...or, the newer F-24 rig. :)

It's quite a system. Of course it's also a real Steadicam which means you get 30+ years of engineering precision and an arm that is to die for.

Forgive me if Iam wrong but Iam sure these days there are more than one manufacturers producing fine products even if the weel was discovered by one 30 years ago.Iam sure you dont drive the same car as you did 30 years ago.About price? you can live that subject to the pocket of its one that wants to spent on what he likes and his personal taste.

One sided people dont make the world go round.

Mkv is defenatly not one sided as they produce products for most of the manufacturers to go with and they are not the only one who does that.

If they are expensive, well I think each one can tell and decide,as noone any more hides his prices.

Iam sure the new flyer is a nice system and works well but not the only system.

And they will be more thanks god.
