Enyone used the supposed mountning-bracket to the Decimator?

Got a red small bracket with the Decimator, but no screws.

 

I looked at that thing and it didn't look like any of the holes lined up with ones on the decimator or anything... maybe I was missing something. They could have been under velcro.....

I could not figure out it's alignment either.

Maybe the holes line up with some HD camera somewhere and then you add velcro? Or more likely they are an extra or mismade part of one of their products that someone decided to throw in as a freebee because then they wouldn't have to throw it away.....

Hi.

I contacted Redbyte. This was their answer. Tryed it, and it's not that good fit actually. I'll probably go with velcro.

 

 

"It is mounting bracket, that is used to mount the Decimator to the back of a rack, behind the monitor. A picture is attached, showing it installed.There are two slots on the back of the box that have threads for attaching it with two M3x6 screws."

Is anybody having the the 4 pin Lemo conversion on the Redbyte done and if so who did the conversion?

I did it myself, it's really rather simple as the circuit board easily slides out and you can clearly identify the solder points for Power and Video. Be careful to make sure all of your polarities are correct as the unit doesn't have reverse protection (I saw a fried unit the other day from this very issue) A picture of mine can be found earlier in this thread.

Thanks Iain. I had a couple of inquires from friends of mine. I wouldn't mind messing around with mine but I don't want to take the chance on their Redbyte's.

I had an extensive discussion with the Redbyte folks about this at NAB.

 

The factory is not planning to reconfigure the power connector at present.

 

Perry Drogo at TECADS (N. American distributor) is considering doing a run of mods as required. We have discussed simply replacing the power connector with a Lemo jack, which is simple enough, but also the possibility of making this a combined power and video output like we are used to with various other components which would allow a single cable to the rig. The complication here is that wiring the video pins up while keeping the BNC active means splitting the signal, just like using a "T" barrel, which we all know cuts down the voltage and can thus affect the image. The case is too small to accommodate a VDA board.

 

I have tossed out the idea of a circuit that senses when a BNC is attached and switches the video between the Lemo and the BNC, maintaining proper 1 volt signal, and Perry thinks that is possible. Seems like the best of both worlds.

In all of my experiences with video signal strength it isn't until you actually plug something into the second connector that the voltage drops. Personally I can't see having to use both the LEMO output and the BNC output at the same time. In my case the Video input plug on the Rig goes to a video DA and is distributed from there to the SD devices (recorder, transmitter, monitor)
