Need plate to mount Panavision Lightweight with a standard 3/8" screw

On a show I worked on before an AC had a plate to adapt the lightweights holes to standard 3/8" camera screws but it looked like a custom job. Does anyone know if Panavision has anything like this on hand? They are closed until Monday or I would just ask them.

Anyone have something like this laying around?

Tom Gleason said he could make something like this for me if necessary, but he is rather busy so won't have him do it unless absolutely necessary.

Might be helpful if you detailed what exactly you were trying to do here Jess--is it mount accessories off the top of the Lightweight? and if so what are they? Would this be in place of a standard dovetail, or are you looking for a dovetail plate that can screw to the Panavision mounts and has 3/8" threaded holes in the plate?

there are a few people who make the adaptors so you could use the steadicam dovetail plate on a head. I think Baer-Bel made one (the cat griller?) and maybe Hugo with Steadirig. I'm sure there are others.

As stated above, view finding is an issue You'll have to mount a monitor to it. I've lined them up using the steadi-monitor the left them as a lock-off before but never "operated" a LW on a head.

That is an awesome picture. Talk about a quick switch from steadicam to dolly.

Thanks for the offers to swing by and borrow one. I am out of town until Sunday evening.

Now that I think of it the catgriller looks like an even better option than what I was wanting. The only problem is that I need it starting on tuesday for a little over three weeks. There isn't any place in town that sells them is there? Or anyone who wants to sell one?

Not sure about local distributer but Fed ex is fast. The real point is why would you need to use the LW as a conventionally operated camera? I used the camera that way because we shot some stunt and threw an extra camera in just because we had the technology. Panavision is very generous with discounts and often will give a LW to a show on an as-used basis. I'm sure there is a way to get a Gold camera from them.
