Not sure if I'm thrown with the idea of a G-40 tho. I would be hesitant to be restricted to a 40lb lift if were to buy a new rig in that category. I’m sure most G-50 owners push their arm to the max most of the time. That sled with the G-50 again, sorted... Can’t cost much less to produce, and only chains in the customer to have to totally upgrade everything again and spend extra cash. What’s this fascination with making everything fold up and pull apart, it all goes into a big box anyway. It’s not like you are traveling from job to job on the bus… Rick. I wouldn't say I push my G-50 to the limit all the time but it's definitely working toward it's upper range when you start adding video, audio, eyelight, Preston and whatever else they can dream up to attach to it. There's no way I'd want to give up the extra 10 lbs of lift, nor could I and remain competitive. It might be a nice arm for live work or running shots though. Well I guess you have the option now. Maybe the pull apart arm is something to do with service, easier to replace just one dodgy section rather than the whole thing for a quick solution in the event of a problem. Also would go in a small peli case in two parts, and it might have some manufacturing/assembly/shipping advantages. My Flyer arm behaves like a dead fish when I pack it away, would be nice to have to parts that didn't flop about all over the place... The G40 arm is also nice, but is slightly different from the G50 and G70 in that it does not have a ride control knob, just a lift knob. All in all a VERY nice rig. Peter, you can replace one of the center pins of the Flyer arm with an aircraft pin just like on the Pilot (or the G40) to have it break in two as needed, just a matter of finding the right diameter and length (or ordering one from Tiffen). It seems that on there website they describe the G50 arm as having a total capacity of 50pounds while the G40 as having a camera capacity of 40 pounds when used with the archer2 sled. Sounds a lot like the same lift capacity really although that could just be poor wording. The "folded up" mode makes it very compact and great for travel. I'm sure it's a preliminary typo on the website. It currently reads: "10-40lb Camera Capacity" However, the documentation available from Tiffen in the Archer Literature (PDF on the website), it reads under Sled: "Nominal payload capacity of 26lbs/12kg" And under the G-40 arm section: "10–40 lb (4.5 - 18kg) capacity - total support weight" Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
