Rich Schutte
Last week the Red tech plugged his AJA downconverter into my sled(got no image) only to find out later that he was sending the wrong signal from the camera. Ever since I can not get video and framelines from the monitor plug on the sled, I only get video from the video out on the front of the sled. Could the video DA be blown? I'm leaving for a 4 day shoot tomorrow and would like to solve this. Thanks Rich
Premium Members Brant S. Fagan SOC Posted April 27, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2009 Rich-- Sounds like you may have some "old wire" issues or he overpowered your video wiring. Are you sure that your sled actually contained a video DA? What are your specific video needs for this upcoming shoot? You can drop me a line at brant@brantsfagan.com or give a call in the morning at my home number 603-826-3445 if you want to speak direct. Premium Members Iain Baird Posted April 27, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2009 It sounds very likely that the problem lies with the DA. The video output on the topstage is most likely wired directly to the input without passing through the DA so thats why that signal is still OK. I'm trying to remember my old MS and I seem to recall there is more than one output on the Lower Junction, have you tested these as well? I assume you have but best be sure. I haven't dealt with Tiffen much but based on all account they are great with customer service and I'm sure with a search you could easily find the right people you need to talk to. I know it won't help for tomorrow but at least you'll have some answers. Worst comes to worse you'll have to run a video line outside of the post to the monitor. I'm not sure what sort of cable back ups you have, but if you have an original MS monitor you might need to butcher one of your Hirose cables to quickly jerry rig a power and video cable. Premium Members Ken Nguyen Posted April 27, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2009 Iain, It happened to me once. Check the capacitor on the back of the board. The connection maybe loosed; or the capacitor is fried. Hope it help, Ken.
