  1. Speaking of the VMA's... Check out this performance from 1995? From about 1.16 onwards. Name that camera shy Steadicam op! Some very nice work! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1tM-iaRCfE Rick. :P
  2. http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index...?showtopic=2867 Rick
  3. A flight to Denmark and a large axe? There?s no easy answer to this unfortunately. As I'm sure you have read many people have been in the same situation. Don't plan on coming to IBC this year? I'm sure he will be there. You could call him, but I don?t know how much further this would get you. Have you tried Johan Windfeld? jwindfeld@hotmail.com he was trying to help people out with their Progear issues. Best of luck, Rick :(
  4. Brian Busby in the UK made one up a while back for Thomas English, if I recall correctly. Give him a bell, and see what he can do for you. Drop my name, it gets me brownie points :P 0044 (0)20 8863 5666 Good luck. Rick :)
  5. The cleaning will be the same, you just have to remove it form the post and disassemble it. The only tricky bit is finding the right key tool to open it up. You remove the top cap with the tool, and the push the bearing, along with the main assembly up off the grip, then turn it over and unscrew a sleeve which presses the bearing into its housing, pop it out and clean it?that?s if it follows the same criteria as the larger ones. Hope this helps a bit, Rick. :)
  6. Optical Support here in the UK did it. There used to be a picture of it on their website too, flying a stripped down XL! So in response, yes it has been done. Just thought I?d mention it! Rick
  7. If anyone may be interested, Brian at Bees Engineering here in the UK (the place that is making mine) may be persuaded to make up a few more, depending demand. I could post some pictures when it arrives...? Rick :)
  8. Hello people. A friend of mine is looking for a BFD. Please let me know if you are shifting one. Rick. :)
  9. G50 here too, and loving it! :P -Rick.
  10. I shall try Brian Busby here in the UK. It would be interesting to see how you approach the situation tho, post wise. Looking forward to a solution, Rick.
  11. Well I?m sure glad we decided what section its going to be in... Let me know your findings tho, as I'm in the same situation. Ta, Rick.
  12. I don't know where abouts you are, but Brian Busby at Bees here in the UK *might* be able to help you out. But if you are on the other side of the pond, I guess it would be more trouble than it’s worth. Rick. :)
  13. You know Leigh, I don’t think you will have to worry there. I'm sure Tiffen will know when they are beaten, and withdraw from the market quietly. I'm sure Garrett is sick of this whole Steadicam thing already. But seriously for a second. Do yourself a favour and take a workshop; no one will think less of you when you take over. Good luck in the future. -Rick.
  14. Well said Matt. Then stop offering "advice" on a professional forum. All the best, -Rick.
  15. I'm there with Tiffen. See you guys there. Matt, perhaps we can finally get that drink in? :D -Rick.
  16. Hey people, I just thought that I would share a few shots with you, and if you have any feedback, that would be great. I am already aware of a few things that I would have improved on. The last shot is also a bit dark. It's only a short clip. Cheers in advance, -Rick. http://mikko.n3.net/rick/ricksteadi1.wmv thanks to Mikko for hosting it too :D
  17. I'll second that about Rig Engineering’s customer service. One word...“Excellent”!
  18. BEWARE OF PROGEAR!! Do a forum search! -Rick.
  19. Looks very over engineered tbh. It would seem that it is going to be very top heavy too. I would re think the gimbal as well, the angle of the handle would be better off if it were vertical (easier on the hand / wrist) Looks like a mix between the Varizoom Flowpod and the Glidecam 2000. I don't see what makes it beneficial over any of the above. There are already too many stabilizers like this on the market. -Rick.
  20. Hey Norbert, I have no idea what bits are in there, but I was at mk-v and saw your rig ready to be dispatched. Just think it?s interesting that you were the one buying it. -Rick.
  21. Cheers Johan. This may be true, but it shouldn't, no matter how "busy" take over a month, if at all, to respond to an email. I even had occasions where I know he has been selective in responding to emails. This is the thing that pisses me off the most. I even sent a message to his ebay auction (where he was replying to questions about his products) and asked him to respond to me (so he obviously got my message, but chose not to reply) How is he supposed to keep a client base, if he neglects enquiries. -Rick "thank god for mk-v" Lewis.
  22. Yeah, he always seemed to get back to you in the end, but of late he hasn?t responded to any of my emails at all. (I bombarded him with them for about a week, with polite reminders to get back to me.) I've given up with Progear totally, and I suggest you do the same in the future. Good luck with the vest, -Rick.
