Steadicam for POV perspective pointing down
Eric Fletcher S.O.C. replied to Frank Schwaiger's topic in Operating
why wouldn't you see the actors arms if you shot it with a movi? you are mounting it to a body mount like the doggie cam. operating a steadicam over someones shoulder whey the move.... not as easy as it types -
Steadicam for POV perspective pointing down

And here is the first logical use of the movi! Otherwise, would a Tango be fitted for this situation? (never used the rig, just wondering) Tango is the wrong rig for that. Actually steadicam for a straight down POV of the chest and feet is the wrong tool. the movi is perfect for this, the operator sits back and operates while the actor carrys the load -
Yet there are known gimbal issues with that rig

Maintenance on a pro arm? remove the spring can's then hose the chassis out with a garden hose, that's it. No sending it back to be cleaned or tuned up, it just works all the time, mine has been back to pro exactly ONCE in FOURTEEN years and that was more of a "Wow it's been forever maybe I should have it looked at" Tiffen tells you they should see the arm once a year.... I don't fly tiffen

unless you have a downconverter a SD monitor can not display a HD signal. Maintenance on a rig? it could go many ways, it you beat the crap out of your gear you are going to spend some bucks on fixing it. My maintenance cost on my XCS ultimate have been nearly zero in the seven years I've owned it

Ben, interesting your review of the level. What were you using to drive it? Cinetronics hasn't released the level yet

what its the function of the droptime ?
Eric Fletcher S.O.C. replied to Nelson Reis's topic in Steadi-Newbies
If you had a 100ft long superpost and had a 3 second it would feel just like your normal sized superpost as long as you changed your drop time with the gimbal position vs adding weight. Jerry, yourself and Alfeo don't seem to get that. With the same camera weight it doesn't Matt how long your post is, drop time is drop time. 30 degrees a second is always the same speed. What you all are confusing is camera weight. Post length has nothing to do with drop time, camera weight does. What Jerry should have said is that with the different camera weights vs rig sizes its harder to compare drop times, and then even that is misleading -
It's a good thing he has you to speak for him. Jens is correct, Chris let quite a few of us know.

what its the function of the droptime ?
Eric Fletcher S.O.C. replied to Nelson Reis's topic in Steadi-Newbies
Actually no, Drop time is drop time, changing the length of the rig doesn't change the degrees per second the rig is moving. We measure the amount of time that it takes for the sled to travel 90 degrees (Horizontal to vertical) Length of the post doesn't change that. Actually Eric, we measure the time and of distance traveled of the 90ยบ segment of the circumference. That in fact does change with the length of a rig. You really want to stick with that answer Alfeo? We are measuring degrees per second which DOES NOT change with length. A 3 second drop is always 30 degrees per second, a 4 second drop is always 22.5 degrees per second no matter how long or short the post -
Boom range

Guys that's the movie on the Klassen gore link, I've handheld flown cameras that way, it's not a bad solution

I do leave it one for a long time Ants, I said that in my previous posts. The SLIGHT breeze created by our movement does next to nothing for cooling anything

Greg, I do exactly that everyday with my Cinetronic 2, I've never had the issue you speak of, same for when I ran the Cinetronic 1and for the Cinetronic Assistants monitor that we have been running for the last three weeks. I've been running all of them longer than anyone else and simply have never seen the issue you are talking about
-
Greg, I too saw the same thing that Ron saw both this year and last year, in fact I think you saw the Cinetronic monitors on display last year. In the 2+ years I've been running the cinetronics monitor I've never seen the behavior that you describe and like you know doing a HD show the rig may get parked on a stand but never turned off. Heat or cold I have zero image issues on the rig or when I use it to operator conventional or crane work with. Just my $.02
