  1. Hi folks, I was speaking with another operator today sharing a call we had both gotten and I remembered the dreaded group text issue that is so prevalent with the Iphone. A text went out asking "What's your rate?" That's not a problem if your cool with just responding to that text without knowing who it's from, or what the specifics are (i.e. Operating on a boat with an Arri BL4 and 1000' mags with a Cooke 10-100 and 6x6 Mattebox, or studio job with an Epic with a 14mm prime and nothing else for a 10 minute music video) BUT, if it's a group text, Your answer will go to EVERYONE that the text was sent to. better to just Call the number and speak to someone in person. He and I agreed it should be shared, although many wouldn't just blurt out the rate...I hope. Have a great weekend.

  3. Not a bad shot Joseph, very cool. Slowly but surely you'll learn to master that sled/camera combination, then you'll move onto bigger and heavier rigs, and add accessories like FF, Low mode, etc. You'll have the basics down, and will learn how to control more weight, like starting a work out regimen, after a few weeks of exercise 10 pound dumbbells feel like 1 pound dumbbells. Keep up the good work!.
  4. I engrave a lot of my gear. I've had two Anton Bauer HC batts walk away I let production know I needed them back by the following Monday and handed them my contact info at Anton Bauer. They bought two new ones and that was that. Ozzie go to the uline website and there you can look for asset labels which are super sticky and you can design what's on them and their size, and stick away. At least once a year. break out every case and make an inventory, see if anything needs servicing and if you've sold stuff or added stuff, that's the time to send a revised list to walker dolle for your insurance list to be complete and correct.
  5. Hi there Chris, Yes! So happy the vest is still doing well. That vest belonged to Charles Papert before if memory serves me right I miss the vest so much I bought another one early this year. I still have the single sided bike which I bought from Rusty Geller before he'd left down under who I believe got it from Jeff Mart before that. Good times on that bike. Congrats again in the video, Great to see many of us doing main stream stuff. be well!! Ozzie

  8. Hi David, If you have the 4 gears that come with an FMG.6 motor, it's there, as well as one of the gears that come with the M-One motor. Not sure what Lens Motor you have. But please hand the Transmitter to someone in charge, like the DP, or someone in the camera department, don't take the responsibility for pulling Iris yourself. Are you using a 2 channel system for this? for the Focus and Iris? Have a fun shoot
  9. Link is working here in Miami. EDIT:, Im wrong, the main page is there but nothing else seems to work, Sorry. From the picture I COULD see of the transmitter, is that a multi pin ribbon type connector underneath?
  10. ANDREW!, You know you needed to call me when you were ready to sell! I have no idea how you would have known that , but you should have!!. LOL. I missed a great deal!

  12. If every camera operator decided never to point their camera at him...ever, even if it meant being fired, that player wouldnt last more than a season, since there would be no footage of him for folks to follow. Anyone know a member of anonymous? They can erase his image from every corner of the web... that would be worse than a fine, being...non existant in this world of social necessity.
  13. Hi Matias, No it's SD. Boxx SD Cobalt Digital Microwave Link System. and yes, according to the info on the www.boxx.tv site, it does NTSC or Pal and component or Composite SD video,
  14. Not sure if it's been on here in the forum yet. a recent friend Bernard has made a home for himself and family in Miami and brought over one of his Steadicars. (there are others in France where it's made) I tested it out a few days ago and shot a quick video of it. Tomorrow Several folks will go back and test it out some more, There are some brake lights and headlights going into this one in the next few days. I'll be posting another video of it working for folks to see it behind the scenes action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfCcKOPFYyo

  19. Good luck on your move to being a working operator. You live in PA. Make plans to attend the next Full workshop in Philly, There you'll see a bunch of different set ups,and get to try the lightest and the heaviest, from the experience you mentioned you've gotten over the last year or so, I did not see any experience with heavy weight. That is something new folks don't always think about. Say you've been strapping on a vest, arm, and sled with an epic, and the entire collection of gear weighs about 30-35lbs. Great. Now another camera set up, may need to have an onboard recorder, seperate from the camera, some audio receivers, a ring light, and an HD transmitter, now you've only added like 9lbs... BUT 9 lbs will feel like 30 if your not used to it. Every minute will be taxing. All the more reason to try some big rigs on and really take them thru their paces. maybe meet up with Tom and head over to a local rental house, Meet and Greet them, See if they'll let you build the rig with Tom and fully set it up with accessories, Start feeling which muscles will need conditioning... Gotta start somewhere. Good luck on your journey, it's fun! OH.. You can save a ton on cables at first by getting yourself an Anton bauer SO plate http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=135979&is=REG&A=details&Q= and a V Mount to XLR plate, http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=871544&is=REG&A=details&Q= and then a couple of Top stage to 4 pin XLR Female cables, You'll be able to power any Broadcast camera with the cables, and any other camera that can take either an AB battery or a V Mount battery by using the adapter plates and the XLR4F cables
  20. NOW THAT type of Customer service is worth it all!. Big Thumbs up to the folks at Chapman! Is it still a family run business? I remember speaking to a Lady, last name Chapman many years ago at the company.
