  1. Patrick, contact Jim Bartel, the manufacturer of the BFD, he"ll help you figure out whats wrong. Go to http://www.bartechengineering.com/ and contact him thru there.
  2. He must have sold it while it was still new. That's the Model 1, same type model I purchased from Dan Kneece in the late late 90's, slightly modified in the back with an AB plate. I later added another AB plate on the bottom to add another batery to run the HS Arri-3's. Ah... Memories.....
  3. Hi Thomas, I would use this plate on jobs with small box type cameras, where I can just add iris rods to the rear of the plate and mount an AB plate on the back, etc.., I like to spread the weight front to back, instead of stacking. On a live show I work on, I'd attach the small box camera on the plate, then the wireless Transmitter/receiver on rear facing rods. Ozzie
  4. Hi Michael canon, Welcome to the forum. While requests like yours are very common, you forgot a very important thing, well a couple of things. First. Where is the shoot taking place? Munich, Germany? Miami, Ohio?, Anchorage, AK? Also for many Steadicam operators, we'd need to know what type of camera your providing, etc..

  6. This thread is so popular.Tim should start selling ad space on it.
  7. I've never sent a cease and desist letter about the copyright issue, but I have mentioned it to a producer once for a job that was late paying and all of a sudden a few days later, every camera person got paid, the lighting guys waited another month, but they sure got the camera ops paid quick...10 of us!

  11. Hi folks, EFP models and the old leather back 3A had Emergency releases that did not have to be armed. On my old 3A, the release was a cable with a set of pins on the end, that if you pull the strap, the pins would pull out of the flap rings in the rear of the vest and the whole thing came apart, on the EFP, the Velcro from the waist was first to go and then the large back patch of Velcro released the upper part of the vest. On the 3A I had seen operators put a cable lock to prevent the vest from coming apart accidentally which defeated the purpose. Although I have been without one for quite some time (PRO,Klassen vest). I always thought it was a good thing. How many times do any of us do a simple scene around a pool? just something simple, walk and talk, Music Video with the Hoochie mama's (technical term) dancing by the pool. One slip and your held down by 70 pounds getting heavier by the second as it absorbs water. We may have only heard of 2 occasions where they were used, but not all steadicam ops are on this forum. Looking forward to testing this new vest out. Price will certainly be a factor I'm sure. Fly safe.
  12. That's very common everywhere, Unless you have a deal memo that specifically says they will credit you, they do not have to credit anyone. For instance, Many of the International Spanish language shows on Univision, which air in every Spanish speaking country like Mira Quien Baila, Nuestra Belleza Latina and Sabado Gigante do not air ANY credits, not even the Director is mentioned. Like Ron said, if you got paid, be happy, and move on to the next. Fly safe, Osvaldo
  13. Please, Please Please Charles do an Audio Dub to that new video that Fabrizio linked in the above post. That guy dancing on the green catwalk is prime for you to give it the Papert treatment. We know your on a shoot, we'll wait!
  14. Hi folks, many of you have seen Charles nimblecam, one of the arms he used was a modified Flyer arm, where standard Arm posts can be used and at the other end of the arm is a standard size male socket block. The arm with Mods allows you to operate very light cameras without the extra weight of a regular arm. Another benefit is if your starting out and only fly lighter cameras but still want to eventually get a full size rig. you can have a standard vest and regular size sled/gimbal and use this arm, which when you price out the arm, the male socket block and the mods is still thousands less than a used 3A. My question is this... is anyone interested in getting the parts necessary to convert their flyer arm to use Standard Arm posts and work on a regular full size vest? The parts needed would be the entire front assembly which would attach with two bolts and would hold any length Arm post and you'd have control of the friction or (power steering) and on the Vest mating section, You would unscrew the two adjustments knurled knobs, have a friend press the male pin out of that assembly, and then attach a small mating part between your pin bracket and your full size socket block....I am prepping a machine shop to make a run of the required parts except for the male socket block, that's on you. So...Any interest? I believe it may also work on several other small pin arms, I will be checking on another couple of arms ( Zephyr and Pilot) in a week or so, but for now, Email me if your interested. As for price I literally have no clue,Once I give the machinist an idea of quantity, he will give me a price. It will be done on a CNC machine, tumbeled for smoothness, polished, then anodized in black. Email me if you have an interest.
  15. Excellent Job by the Digital Cinema Society on that interview, Thanks for posting about it Sean. Looking forward to trying one out on a live or live to tape show. Osvaldo Silvera
  16. Have a wonderful Holiday!! if your in Miami, CALL!!
  17. One sled does, and the other doesn't, But I'm working on it!. The foam is 1" thick and I bought it at a company in Miami called EMPACOL if you do a search, They're on NW 51st Street, off 72nd avenue, so it would be something like 71XX NW 51st Street. It's their dark gray hard foam, I don't know what they call it. Works well. and For $37 bucks, plus $10 for the can of Glue and an hour or so with some razor blades, you can't beat it. Next time I have to do it, I'm going to make all the cut outs, then cover it all with that super thin, indoor/outdoor fabric which mimics the old gray carpet folks used to cover home made speaker cabinets with. Should last longer and look slicker, and everyone wants a slick looking case interior. ooohhh Ahhhhhh
