  1. Just received an invite for the Pre-NAB-show. April 7th at the Hilton Universal. Introducing the 416 Highspeed and the D-21. (And the True Blue Light). So I guess enough people wanted a Highspeed 416, which means the SR-3 HS is history... I heard about the D-20 MkII. D-21 new to me... We'll see in April, Erwin
  2. Guys... Wait until you see my new cart... case... cart... case... wait... cart. Lukas, I drove the MCC Swatch Mobile (Smart) over 10 years ago, before the "Elk test" debacle... Was fun on ice and snow... and perfect for European city's, it was a toss up with the Mini Cooper 1.3i, but I ended buying the Renault Williams instead (170 mph without Limiter on the Autobahn... wrooom). BTW: Mr Chevrolet was a swiss immigrant... Later, Erwin
  3. Yes the parts have to be professionally stripped and re-anodized. Also don't forget to remove any non-aluminum parts (other metals will contaminate the bath) as well as all bearings from the bones, then all precision treads, bores and helicoils have to be protected and masked. The procedure is on the pricey side as well as it will take usually a couple of weeks to do as the stripping firm will most likely be a different one then the one that anodizes parts. You will be down with your equipment for a while. I personally like the worn look, but good luck with your endeavor. Erwin
  4. And it only took 3 days for somebody to notice... Thanks Neal! Erwin
  5. Hi Nitin, We met a couple of months ago at Preston. - First, please change your Login to your real full name. - Second, there is a very long threat with a lot of information: http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=201 If you still have questions e-mail me. Good Luck, Erwin
  6. From all rigs out there to borrow, they chose the Glidecam... Weights on the bottom, dead weight... great as if I hadn't enough to carry. This forum is the wrong demographic for a rig like that. I'm not a prosumer and couldn't care less about companies like that. I doubt whole hardly that this rig will handle my bread and butter cameras like the ARRI 535B, Moviecam Compact, Arricam, ARRI 435, etc... Not even getting into The Genocide et al. Power, HD signal etc. That's why I would even stop at a show to check it out. It's like getting approached on a Formula One race to try out and race a Lada Niva. My cart costs more then that unit... So why is this guy getting bend out of shape? Wrong Forum! Just my 2 cents. Erwin
  7. Now you can get a version from Filmtools... http://www.filmtools.com/filmtools-7-screwdriver.html I hooked them up with the company in Switzerland (Of all Countries on the planet...) and what do you know... the company stopped making them... great isn't it and to add to the insult: Craftsman is also holding production on the Stubby Screwdriver that everybody in our industry uses... They are just ignorant about the film industry... I guess... You can still buy the Craftsman Screwdriver with the Number 7 blade, it's just going to be a foot long... Oh well! Erwin
  8. The other way would be an adapter plate, like you use for your Transmitter on the Low mode plate. Add Velcro to attach the pad directly to the Steadicam plate... Not sure how comfortable or adjustable it would be... Erwin

  20. It's pure reference as is the monitor... The longer you do it the more you will rely on architecture, the set etc. I'm amazed when I see myself on behind the scenes footage how many times I look away from my monitor. Just ask how many Ops have finished takes after the monitor went out without the video village ever noticing... Also it depends on the operating style, are you more bottom heavy or more neutral. The more neutral you fly the more you will have to rely on an alternate way to find out if you are level and a quick view to the bubble or electronic level will give you that feed back. After a while you will instinctively know when you are level or if you got the shot etc. At the end of the day use anything and everything to make the shot as good as humanly possible, if the level helps you to get better buy one... if not, don't. My 2 cents... Erwin
  21. I received my DVD a couple of days ago... man memories. Even though I have the VHS, I had not watched it in years. Everybody that is remotely interested in Steadicam and wants to post any questions about basic balancing operating, etc should buy that DVD first. It gives you really a little workshop in 2 hours (It does not by any means replace a proper workshop). It's also a great reminder for guys that just took a workshop and are now at home and trying to remember what was said in a certain situation when they did certain thing and the instructor said... Thanks Jerry for all your work on it and for signing my copy. Erwin PS: DO NOT make pirated copies or upload it on the net, at $20.- bucks it's more then fair priced!
