  1. Hi Sander, Can you give me some hint how to learn to take a DVCAM camera apart and put it back together? I have a JVC gy-dv5000 and a Panasonic GS400. Both are minidv cameras. I am interested to learn inside of my camera, maybe do some mod. But I worried that I damage my camera. TIA Regards Leigh
  2. don't be mean. I really DO want to become a steadicam op, I'm just dirt poor at the moment. I mean, I wish I had $2000, but I don't. I'm anxious to get started but I'm still not able to afford the workshop and I was hoping that someone could give me some helpful advice. Your suggestion that taking the workshop is the next step (despite it's resentful tone) is very helpful. Thanks for your advice, I'll just be patient and save up the money. Still, I don't appreciate being insulted just because you don't think that I truly want to be a steadicam operator and you HAD to take time out of your busy "advanced member" schedule to answer some silly kid's questions in the steadi-newbies forum. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think that you need to get two things done. First get to watching a startup steadicam training video. Second wear the stablizer and practise walking. I don't know how you can get both. I live in New Zealand and there around two steadicam operators in New Zealand and you live in USA(right?) and there are thousand steadicam opeatrost, so you will have more opportunity than me. Regards Leigh
  3. Hi Matt, Glad that you get your fund. Will you buy your potential flyer directly from usa to save your local dealer extra cost? Regards Leigh
  4. Can anyone tutor me why not use gyro instead of steadicam in flying shot? I thought that is gyro design for. TIA Leigh
  5. I thought that paint protect the metal. Will it rot? :P

  10. Hi Job Scholtze, I don't get these sorts of paper mail, but I do get by lots of these email sent to my hotmail address on daily basis. It seems email is far cheaper than paper mail to send. Here is what I do. I first check sender and receiver email address, if I don't know them, then check the title and first two lines of the email, if it is so generic :D , the email will go to my rubbish bin, plus I report to hotmail as spam email. I am not exactly sure if Microsoft will put any effort to do anything. It will cost me around 30 seconds and waste my time. Regards Leigh
  11. Simple, Leigh, the check is a fake. It looks like a valid cashiers check and has enough correct info on it to take several days to bounce back. Your bank will even indicate it cleared. Then they find out it's a phony and deduct the deposit from your account. By that time the crooks have your money and gear and are gone with the wind. They tried to buy a BFD from me late last year with a similar scam. My wife recently came across a new one. She is an attorney and was contacted by a "14 year old boy" in England who claimed his father had just died and left him a sizable inheritance but he couldn't collect it because he was afraid his abusive drug addict step mother would find out about it and steal it all. So he was contacting attorneys around the world (my wife has a web site) looking for one to help him get the inheritance without his evil stepmother finding out. Turns out it was an identity theft scam. They wanted her to e-mail all her personal and banking info so they could "release the funds to her" so she could hold the money for the kid. Bastards. Jim "digital rat smeller" Bartell <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Jim, Thanks for the detail answer. How to prevent this kind of thing? Insist to do bank wire transfer first, until the money in my bank account safely then give the rig? TIA Leigh
  12. Hi David, Interesting If you cash the check first in your bank before you send the shipping company your rig and $3000, how will this game work? Regards Leigh
  13. Hi Lemar, Buy a video. Here is the link. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller...u=153906&is=REG Regards Leigh

  15. Hi Will, Thank you very much for clarifying the question. Regard Leigh
  16. Hi Stephen, It seems quite confusing here. Does that mean if using a back mount vest, there is no need to buy a NZ$100 back support? Am I right? TIA Leigh
  17. Hi Charles, Thanks for the picture. I saw one in Mitro10 serveral months ago and it cost NZ$100 IIRC. I thought that it mightbe useless at the time. I will check that one again to see. Regards Leigh
  18. Dear Will, Excellent tip :) Would you please post some picture regarding to the a lifting belt? They say one picture worth thousands of words. :D Thanks Regards Leigh

  22. So I'm guessing the max camera weight will be somewhere around 12kg? <_< <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the max camera weight can reach above 20kg, the arm support weight can be 40kg or more. :D The capacity is not restricted by the arm anymore, it is restricted by the camera operator. <_<
  23. Hi Charles, Thanks for asking. No, I am still in design stage. Regards Leigh <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you building this as handheld model or a full rig. What is the capacity of the arm, price range, etc... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Charles, It is a full rig front mount/back mount. The capacity of the arm is from 500g to 20kg or more if the operatore can hold. I don't know about the price and I will try to make it reasonable. Here is my exercise video divx format file size around 50mb My exercise video The camera I use is JVC GY-DV5000 with Fujinon s20x6.4brm-sd lense. The whole camera weighs around 7kg. The whole rigs including camera weighs around 15kg. I started to touch video camera since this April, I am still inexperienced. Regards Leigh
