  1. Hi Eric, Quote from M. Wilson : The Merlin, the Pilot, the Flyer, the Archer ALL use the same post / gimble hole size. The Merlin/Pilot Arm, the Flyer Arm, and the G-50 Arm, all have that same size post. Depending on how your sled is balanced, you can switch the sleds around on the arms as you wish to suite your needs. Yes, it will work. But keep in mind, the Merlin is designed for Camera's to 5 lbs. 5 lbs is the entry weight on the Flyer Arm. So it can be done, but you have to use a heavy Camera on the Merlin to get to that 5 lbs. I don't think Tiffen will sell all the parts alone, other wise.. a Flyer complete + pilot arm and merlin.. would be a very smooth combination. good luck, Best, Erik
  2. I can be wrong but i think i saw the builder (the guy in the picture) hanging arround for a long time at the Tiffen Booth. I forgot to ask him. Maybe i see him tomorrow again. On their website this system cost a bit over 4000 euro !!! Can you believe it ? Erik
  3. Hi Amando, I use both Libec controllers. 1 for DV, the other for Canon/Fujinon lenses. They work nice and fine but are a little bit bigger then the ZOE. I have the controllers mounted on the gimbal but up side down. That way you have a bit more space to get a good 'grip' So Tele/Wide is in mirror. It is a little odd, but do work for me. Best, Erik
  4. Sharp Mark.., indeed let's do a competion.. how many hours in the vest ? ;) But for some people that's seems very important  I did cover with Steadicam the latest Triathlon Full Distance in Almere, The Netherlands. I had the vest on from 07:15am - 10:15am / 11:45am - 16:15pm. In my case a Flyer with the JVC GY251 with some bells and whistles on it. I did speed running following 30 triahlets during change from swimming to cycling. 30 times a approx distance of 75 meters. Ofcourse this is a Flyer with lightweight JVC camera on it. But for me it was a new record and i'm proud of it. Best, Erik
  5. Hi guys, thanks for your input. I have actually contacted Phil, as I am planning on doing one of his workshops. Thankfully he is going to lend me one until I get a replacement. Stupidly I still managed to force the dovetail plate all the way on before I finally decided this def isnt right. After getting it off though the stage still looks fine so hopefully no damage was done in the process. Damn, indeed let's hope the stage is still in good shape. A second thing you 'should' thought about was.. if it is so hard to get the dovetail on the stage, how the hell will i get the Rig balanced with some 'soft' minor adjustments forward/backward. In this stage no adjustment at all is possible. Once again good luck.. Erik
  6. Yep, but will not work. It is like the first few millimeter will work, after that it is completly stuck. It will destroy after major force your topstage. It scared me alot, i immed stopped trying and contacted the dealer. This new dovetail is almost twice as long as the ' old 'dovetail.. so a major improvement but with some batch problems.. ;) Maybe you can borrow / use a old dovetail from Phil for the time being. Good luck, Erik
  7. Hi Gibbo, PLEASE BE CAREFULL !!! There are a batch (don't know how many) dovetails outthere which are indeed to width. It is only 1 mm but that's enough. It costs me some time but finally i received a correct one. Tiffen will take care of it, inform Frank, Terry and/or Robin or at least the dealer were you bought the flyer. Good luck, Erik please use your real name here !!!
  8. Hi Lars Erik, Yep, i think a lot of us know him already. On the Steadiforum.com i also placed some links of Johan youtube vids. The videos are all some like 1 minute or shorter but shows amazing shots ! His speed, level, frameing and stops + locks are simply unbelievable. I have contacted Johan and soon he will put some of the shots in a reel. Then it should be possible to put it on the website of Afton (steadishots.org) Best, Erik ps.. this look like a combi clip. Sorry, this is a new one for me
  9. ahhhhhhh the infamous mr. Fisher, to bad but thanks for the warning !! Best, Erik
  10. Looks very very nice. Don't know if it is for sale. I have sent them a email, Erik
  11. Maybe it was your twinbrother ??? Erik
  12. Patience... Elliott, have patience. Sofar some nice job offers you got already, don't you ??? Best, Erik
  13. Yep, they keep coming those wonderful piece of enginering. But if you try to calculate how many he (they) have sold already, everytime you see them on Ebay there is always a bunch of people who have done some bids on it. Many times even above the 1000 dollars or more. So Steadydrive is maybe doing well in the meantime :o He is laughing his ass of and will buy a real 'Steadicam' in the near future. Maybe you should point them at your Sled Norbert ?? Erik
  14. Wow you know as soon as I posted this I found what I was looking for. I need to get out more often. LOL :D Thanks though. Talk to everyone very soon. Like I said I'm a GOOF!!! LOL Yo Nikk, So, inform us.. what did you find ?? Erik
  15. Hi Eric, It should not be a problem, however i never tried this one myself. Only a stripped down SDX900 a couple of months ago. That was not a problem. I received a mail from Brandson Thompson a couple of days ago, he got a panasonic hdx900 on the sled with wireless video and focus,... so with Brandon a almost lookalike setup went fine.. Good luck and fly save, Best, Erik ps. Brandon, share your story.. with picture maybe ???
  16. Ryan.. The main important thing you can do in this forum is... search and search... find and read. A simple search for only 'FlYER' will answer mostly all your questions : http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index...93&hl=flyer Best, Erik
  17. Trung, I have done a lot of Steadiwork in hot weather, here in the Netherlands and for example in Malta and Florida. These shots were several hours.. Every guy overhere get's sweaty, we all are.., in my eyes it seems almost impossible to work without any sweat. But you can always wash the parts of the vest, no problem at all. In really hot weather it is nice to wear a towel (cold/soaked) in your neck, it works for me.. Best, Erik
  18. Hi all, Just saw last evening 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry'. Funny Film but several shots, close and (wide) total were complete out of focus. Most of the film was in focus so seems no defect to the projection i think ? Anyone else noticed this, or do i need glasses again ? Best, Erik
  19. That's the new pre-edition ULTRA 3 Rob..., shame you don't see that !! Tiffen going to show it on the IBC next month.., can't wait to test fly it.. Erik
  20. You both beat me with the post. Saw this yesterday on Ebay, but though.. it is not nice to make a bit of fun of somebody with a figure it out for myself situation !! I think he can start giving workshops now.. Erik
  21. Yep, almost as good as the Ultra 2 <_< Erik ps. but if you are serious consider it Elliot, i will take over your EFP for a little bit more :P
  22. Hi Trung, Well, i do receive the last years all kinds of mail from below : http://www.theworkshops.com/ Maybe they have some nice workshops for you, it seems affordable. They offer also a Steadicam Workshop : http://www.theworkshops.com/catalog/course...amp;SchoolID=21 Best, Erik
  23. Hi Mark, On this board we have Jefferey Cools. He has done a 12-24 upgrade : http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index...amp;#entry24820 Maybe he can help you further with this ? He has also a picture on the SOA website with a 435 on the Rig : http://www.steadicam-ops.com/database/soaD...hp?detailID=627 Best, Erik
  24. Hi Elliot, Stupid questions don't excist, stupid answers do.. A Flashmag is indeed a digital recording device or a Solid State Recorder. like a external harddrive but 'compact build' . Several digital 'cinema' camera's use it like the Arri, the Thomson Viper. Normally the camera's are just body's without any recordingdevice in them. You record via a heavy multicore or at least 2 coax cables which are attached to a remote recording device like a HDCAM SR or other HD recording equipment. You can imagine that cables when useing a dolly or crane should not be a problem, useing a Steadicam it does ! I think almost for this reason they came up with a Flashmag. A negative thing is that those Flashmags don't have super storage, but how much i don't know. Sofar i known it was for the Thomson Viper (Venom pack) about 10 minutes in 4K filmstream. Ofcourse there is more to come, Arri was not the first, but will also not be the last !! Best, Erik ps. correct me if i'm wrong guys...
  25. Hi Norbert, I'm not sure but maybe Afton can give you some advise.., see below link : http://www.aftongrant.com/products.cfm Best, Erik
