  1. Hi Tomas Well you have read all the forum thats a great start. Next call all your local ops and go and try each arm then you will feel the difference, and learn why different brands have different prices . There is a BIG difference. For me its all about peace of mind and I know what ever job I am asked to do I know my arm will do the job perfectly . Good luck Louis Puli
  2. Hi Blair and everyone What I think you will find helpful is to have a note pad which I keep with my kit and record all the details of each Camera and lens combination setup eg .Diagram of the base plate and mark which hole to use for each camera.Gimble height.Base position(if slides) Monitor position , Batteries position. In both Hi and Low Mode . List all accessories,transmitters,motors(1-3)etc,etc.Where ever possible I go and do a pre at the rental house if I haven't used the camera or adaptor (P&S) with what ever lens etc.etc. When I first started out I spent several days at a rental house trying out all the cameras/lens combinations so as i would be familiar with each setup. As to your own camera you should know it in your sleep and should not take any longer then 15min max to set up . Welcome to the steadicam community good luck Louis Puli
  3. Hi Riccardo and everyone You could also look at the new Decimator 2 small great price and works well . http://www.alangordon.com/sales/down_convertors/decimator_2.html Louis
  4. Hi everyone I know exactly how you all fell I have lost out on many jobs to low ballers .On one job the DP wanted me but the PM told him he had to use this guy because the other guy was cheaper(only several 100 $) . After the Reshoots he wasn't cheaper and the PM will never use that guy again . In this case the operator was found out and thing worked out in my favour. There are also other op's how should know better (You know how you are) they are only thinking of themselves and don't give a #### about any one else but themselves .I hate that and I will never help/support them . just my 2 cents. Louis Puli
  5. Hi Eugene Buying a rig is one thing, then there is just a few other things you will need . Focus control system ,Gimble zoom control ,Transmitters ,Recievers,Directors hand held monitors ,Hard mounts ,Wind diffectors ,and 2 x power cables for every camera ,Onboard recorder, just to name a few extras. The rig is the cheap part of the overall swing of things.Do a workshop first before you put your money down as it is a little harder then it looks ok . Good luck Louis Puli from down under.

  10. Hi Fabrizio and Job and everyone My approach to this problem started some time ago and I ended up using a split ring with a cover plate which hold the ring in place. I have one screw which I just loosen and the ring slides on /off when required .Its quick and easy and all the assistants that I know how have used them find they work great. Jim will have stock of these Focus rings next week if anyone would like to try them out give him a call. Louis Puli.
  11. How has anyone rigged a Bartech on a Pilot? I've got a V-Lock to Pag plate with a D-tap out, I could put on the bottom battery and run a cable up and over the front. Seems sensible? I've never really looked at one. Can it take the weight with a 5D, Bartech, CP2 and a plastic petroff mattbox with 2 filters? Hi Thomas Here is a still of what you are looking for .I did my first 5D commercial a few weeks ago but on my full rig . Good luck Louis Puli
