  1. Hey guys, I've been messing around with a Fox brand Wireless follow focus made for the FMG-6 motor. After calibrating, the thing very quickly looses it's marks, and eventually shifts all the way to one end of the lens. Does anyone have any knowledge of this brand? I can't seem to find any info on it. I might just try to sell it and get a Bartech system.
  2. Hey Everyone. I'm looking to get a used Bartech system to use with an FMG-6 motor. Thanks
  3. Culver-West Los Angeles... Like a jerk, I forget that not every operator lives out here.
  4. Hey guys, I'm looking for some kind of stand for my Pilot. I would prefer a stand with casters. If anyone has something lying around that they want to get rid of, I'll buy it off of you! Thanks
  5. I don't plan on doing 3D anytime soon. I was just sharing the information as someone had asked about genlock. From what I've read the TC link will work with any device that can I/O timecode. The only drawback is that you cannot continuously jam sync, the camera relies on its own clock once the original sync has been made.
  6. I just got "The AF100 Book" in the mail today (free mail-in offer with the AF100). In the book, it describes how to use the TC link function. It actually converts the camera's composite video out into a temporary genlock. This allows the camera to either to be set as master and out put it's TC signal temporarily, or set to slave and sync itself to incoming timecode. The camera then relies on its own clock to keep the timecode sync'ed.
  7. I found that it does have TC link via USB, sort of like how Sony Z7U does via Firewire.
  8. No, there is no genlock. I can see how that would be a dealbreaker, but I don't plan on doing any 3D so not a big deal for me. The Sony PMW-F3 will have genlock, though. Here's some more test footage that took after receiving a Nikon adapter in the mail. It's just some DoF tests and low light. Download the 866mb file to see uncompressed Pro Res 422. Low Light and DoF
  9. Look into the Scout. I think it's a better buy.
  10. 200 ISO, Olympus 14-41mm 3.5-5.6, Panasonic 45-200 4.0-5.6 This isn't a very controlled test. I just took the camera out for a spin. I also forgot to set the black balance before I went out, so that may factor in. The camera is ver similar to Panasonic's other AG cameras, but the new feature pose for a bit of a learning curve. So far it's impressed me. I'll get more controlled tests soon.
  11. I'm exited about receiving my new AF100 today. A friend of mine and I made a little unboxing video. Nothing fancy. I'm going to throw it on my Pilot tomorrow and take it for a test drive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV2k5p8tBNs
  12. I've been using ExpressInvoice for a while now. It works pretty well for me. Not really robust, but a good light app.
  13. That's all really good advice, guys. Chris, thanks for the apology. I'm new to the Steadicam community, and I wouldn't want to start getting on people's bad side.
  14. Thanks Jerry. I'll look that book up. Seems that I can't avoid the forum trolls. Why have a "Newbie" forum if not to ask questions?
  15. Thanks for the help guys. One last thing. Let's say that I wanted to run a camera from the power on my sled. Would a selectable voltage regulator work (Like the one you mentioned on your rig) as cameras like the HVX, 7D, etc use around 8V?
  16. @arencher I would consider myself a pretty technical guy, but I'm finding it hard to come up on some of the trade secrets for electronics / power info for rigs. Specifically, I want to step down my 14.4v to use with various accessories. It's probably common knowledge for all of you guys, but I just don't know where to get the info on how to do this, and what parts I need. Would this work for stepping down? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062601 I just want a better understanding. Thanks.

    Scout Arm?

Hey guys, As always I love reading all the new materiel on these forums, and I love your input when I have a question. I bout a Pilot a few months back, and I was wondering if anyone knows if I would be able to upgrade to an arm used on the new Scout. It almost doubles the payload of my existing arm. Would I have to retrofit it? Does Tiffen even sell the arm by itself? I looked on their site, and there was no mention of the price of an arm. I know I can call them, but I just had the thought now. Thanks guys.
  18. A friend of mine found this on Craigslist. What the hell.. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cwg/2023955197.html
  19. I'm looking to rent a flyer for use with a Red with a large zoom lens this saturday. Can someone send me a quote? alanjrencher@gmail.com Thanks
  20. That just looks like a shoulder mount, not Steadicam type of stabilizer. I would guess that the lower part would actually have to be adjusted to rest against you chest to make smaller hand held cameras act more like bigger, shoulder mount cameras.
  21. Thanks Brian, that helps me a lot. I really appreciate the advice I've gotten from you and the Steadicam community on this board. Keep it up guys! I look forward to joining your ranks!
  22. I have a Steadicam Pilot that I would like to rent out to other operators. I'm pretty new to the Steadicam community, and I'm not sure what a fair price would be for it. Also, could anyone give me pointers for renting it out (ie contracts, do's and don'ts, etc)? I don't have a follow focus or any other accessories. On that note, does anyone rent out their follow focus kits, or should I just go to a rental house? Thanks - Alan Rencher
  23. I have one available. I PM'ed you about it.
