  1. Looking to rent an arm that can support an Alexa from a house or dry-hire from an operator next weekend 8/23-24. Shooting with an Alexa for the first time and my arm needs some servicing so it'll be away for a bit.

Looking for a weekend rate or 1-day for a shoot in the LA area. Any advice on rental houses would help, since I've never rented a Steadicam in the LA area before.

  2. Just as an idea, why not: hood mount, grill mount or bumper mount (depending on what the shot needs), do an Epic shooting 4K or 5K and use post-stabilization? If it's 2-3 miles of straight road, then give the driver a monitor for reference, rig it up and go take a drive. I'm not that familiar with post-stabilization, but I would think a 4K image would give MORE than enough to extract a 2K/1080p stabilized clip.

Shooting a higher rez plate does not solve stabilization issues. If the footage has motion blur due to the jarring camera shake from driving on road that isn't super smooth, even after it is stabilized the image will still show this motion blur. It gives the image a weird blurry edges look every time there is a hard bump. Good thought though.
