Hello all,
I am going to be conducting a Steadicam Workshop next week -- namely protocols, do's/don'ts for Director/Crew -- NOT workshopping operating
I was wondering if any of you beginners or pro's out there could weigh in on some issues/problems that occur on set -- particularly when working with Directors that haven't worked with steadicam before, what the crew should be aware of, etc.
Any and ALL suggestions are welcome!
Thank you!

Hey All,
Somewhat still a little new around here.
I've been asked to fly a 7D on my Flyer LE for a music video. The director had done a similar video a little while ago [7D on a steadicam; not sure what model].
I have read some topics of the forum but am still relativley in the dark on what to do for weight. I'm under the impression that the 7D with a lens won't be heavy enough for the arm to drop comfortably.
Last time they had a Bartech for the focus puller, and I heard they may have had a lcd somewhere on the rig.
I have no mod's to my Flyer if that makes any difference [in terms of adding led weights or things of that nature]
Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much.
I did read the most recent thread.
I'm going to speak with DP and 1st AC today to get a congif without using the raid.
Again,
Thank you.

Hi All,
I have been asked to fly the RED cam on my Flyer LE, which I have never done before.
I have done as much research as I can but still unaware of what to do/tell them. The shoot is this month [25ht-28th], so I have a bit of time. Its a small/low budget show if they can get me, they can have me do it.
Here is what I know:
Nikon primes are what will be used on the RED [which should reduce weight, relatively].
The PM and Director know we will have the shave any and all excess weight to stay within the 19lbs load of the Flyer LE.
I have made no modifications to my rig.
The biggest set up I have flown is HVX200/Redrock M2e/MicroXflip/Nikon Primes [which comes in between 12 and 14 lbs, incld cam battery and 2 P2 cards]
What I am looking for:
Is it even possible to do this?
Configuration to keep in mind when the time comes.
I really don't want to fly much more than the 19lbs limit [21.5 MAX if that]
Please and and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated!
Thanks,
Talk soon,
Eric

How hard is it to remove the microx? Then theres no need to flip in post.
Either way I would just shoot with the camera upside down. Mounting from the handle is not likely to give you a very stable mount.

Well,
To take the microx off and put it back on will eat up some time, then time for balancing....not an option.
I was more worried about the stress on the handle. I just had a spring blow out on me a couple weeks ago, already back in an action, but I'm less interested in maxing out the arm to get as low as possible....should I be?

Hey All,
I was curious as to the weight of the hvx200 with the redrock m2/micro X. I know that the flyer le is capable of it's weight in general.
I have been asked to do "low mode" for my next shoot. I do not have a low mode mount.
I know that it would be easy to just flip the rig, but the HVX handle has a threaded mount, would it be safe to attach the plate to that, still flip the rig but have the camera up right [which would avoid "flip in post"]. And I'm thinking it would allow the shot to be lower than mounting the plate under the camera like normal.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Eric.

Hey All,
I am shooting this weekend and it will be the first time that I would like to try and use my rig in a vehicle.
I have a steadicam flyer le with HVX200 AP
I know that I could suit up and sit down however safety and comfort are compromised.
What is the best way to mount the rig to be able to shoot out the back of a van [back hatch wide open].
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance!
