  1. Hi John,

Got my Atlas arm today and can't be happier (serial number 13....) I'll fly it starting tomorrow on my show (SyFy's Being Human) and your offer to fly the Atlas on your sled inspired me to do the same here in Montreal some time soon for others to experience it.

You seem to have a blast on the stage of SYTYCD . great work.

    Fly safe,

    Frederic

  2. Hi Justin,

Had the same issue recently : I wanted to upgrade to HD but my lower junction box had been "pimped" by David Hable and wanted to keep my extras. Called David to have him do the HD upgrade and he declined the offer stating there was to much electronics to fumble with and it would probably be in the same price range as PRO.

In my case, I went the easy road and bought the PRO HD kit and got rid of my pimped analog sled.

So I would definitely recommend David Hable at crampedattic.com but I guess this won't be cheap. David is a magician and can surely help you out.

    Good luck and fly safe.

  3. Hi William,

No complaints about the connector on the paralinx , the hdmi standard by itself is what I dislike : it's more of a consumer product .

The heat issue , as you mention it , is more of an observation than anything else .

Power wise , i've had some cables made by David Hable (pro power to mini usb with a 5v converter). David actually made a Y cable and since the decimator can also accept 5v, the cable breaks into mini usb AND decimator round connector. This is a clean a more robust solution than the adapter cable that's in the paralinx box (p-tap to full size usb).

    Cheers

  4. Been using the paralinx linked to a decimator for 3 weeks on my Pro sled flying an Alexa:

    Pro's:

It''s ridiculously small and compact .

    No latency

They advertise 300' in clear sight and it's really 300' . No less.

Price / preformance can't be beat

    Con's:

Both rx and tx get really hot . Remember Modulus ? That hot.

Power thru 5v mini usb only for transmitter .

Hdmi is a horrible connector . On both ends .

Basic kit is a bare minimum: you'll need a decimator for any camera without hdmi (alexa)

, you'll also need a hdmi to sdi converter at the receiver end if your video village cannot ingest hdmi signal .also add some mini usb cables , short hdmi cables .... My 1200 $ paralinx is working how i want it with about 700$ worth of extras.

Bottom line : great system for the price and so small you forget about it. But it's not an "out of the box" solution for pro use.

Will be testing it in the cold in november , will post results.

    Cheers.

  6. One word , : Roll-a-ramp .

    roll-a-ramp web site

I have the grips department rent some every time I have to move in deep snow. You can make them as long as you want but for portability , I' d recommend having two sections of 15' . I so much love those I even considered buying some but it takes too much space in my truck. You unroll them, flip them over and voila: a cat walk capable of supporting 2000lbs.

    Cheers.

  7. Quick review of serial number 007 Cinetronic 6.5",

On a frozen lake today, -12 to minus 17 celcius all day with strong winds. Monitor plugged in and powered all day from 8 am to 6 pm, stayed out on lunch break with no heat source. It never had a hiccup. This monitor is from another planet.

    Cheers.

  8. Scarlet has the exact same connectors as the Epic .

Easy check is to go into the red store and select any item (power cable in that case), there is a small window on the right of the item that says which camera it is compatible with.

    Fly safe.

Here is a picture of my sled with my Epic (david hable made the power cable from sled to Epic)
