  2. Just wanted to share this gizmo made by David Hable .

I asked David for one because on the TV show i'm on for 90 days, the DP has the Focus iris unit locked on the video village monitor and leaves it on all day. Plug it in the video village power bar and forget about it. about 100$

    Cheers

  3. Got the exact opposite , just got my Bolt after waiting almost 3 weeks for it with no communications but the one from FEDEX stating it had been accepted at TERADEK .

I reached customer service last week, they responded very fast telling me they would check up and get back to me ...wich they never did. Then 4 days later, I sent another mail and while I was pressing "SEND", FEDEX knocked at my door with my unit.... WTF...

At least I have my unit back. Great device , poorest communications. To the point I am struggling not to buy anything else from these guys... if the future Paralinx HD-SDI upgrade is solid, i'll go back in a heartbeat to the stellar service I had from Dan at Paralinx.

  4. Hi,

Here's the new RED digital motor. Ships (hopefully) in June. 1250$. Here's the info from RED:

    - Compatible with the Meizler Module as well as most lens control systems, the RED LENS MOTOR combines a small package with higher torque than the small Heden.

    - 270 Degree rotating connector allows for much easier configuration and mounting.

    - Fits onto a standard 19mm rail (15mm with insert)

    - Friction or Geared Interchangeable Gear heads ( left or right )

-$1250 each. Ships this summer. Come see them working in our booth.

I might grab one or two at that price, if the torque is not enough, I can still use them for iris.

    Time will tell.

Anyone tried them at NAB ?

  5. Hi Joe,

This particular shot from that TV show has a lot of similarities with a school shooting that happened right here in Montreal , Canada. The Dawson college shooting in 2006 was one where two police officers were visiting the school regarding another event while the shooting began. They were able to stop him in the first few minutes of his assault. The "ELEPHANT" reference was also mentioned here regarding the artistic choices the director made for this particular shot.

And yes, we all hope these kind of events don't repeat themselves anywhere.

  6. Hi all,

Since Daniel is not posting very much here, I wanted to share a 12 minute long shot he did on one of the most successful tv series right now in Quebec called 19-2 .

It opens season 2 of that very nice and dark show photographed by Claudine Sauvé.

Warning : the shot is about a school shooting: director , Podz, wanted an ultra realistic shot and it shows.

It's in french but thanks to YouTube magic, pressing CC at the bottom of the screen will give you subtitles. Adjust resolution to highest (I think it's 480)

12 takes and they took the last one. One day rehearsing, one day to shoot it.

1.5 millions viewers for that episode (we are 8 million total in Quebec, that's a lot of viewers for a tv show)

Amazingly stressful , kudos to Daniel.

  7. 6000$ USD . (9000$ new)

    Money order or wire transfer.

I already have a Mini slider and I'm getting another one for a TV show. The 3' has to go. If you have ever driven an "original" slider, you know they are the best . And service from Ron Veto has been 5 stars all along.

Slider is in great condition. No rust, no blind spots. Cosmetics is 7/10. Comes with all accessories pictured . And also, I'm adding 4 "skates" extra (1 new in plastics, 3 used for parts) .

If you want, I can also send the slider to it's creators in California to have it "checked up" and I will pay any fees related to this check up. Buyer pays all shipping. This item is heavy and shipping won't be cheap. FEDEX is preferred and I will gladly put the shipping charges on your FEDEX account if you have one.

I have 2 original sliders and if it wasn't for that new tv series that needs 2 Mini's , I would keep the 3' .

I don't remember the last time I saw an "original" slider for sale: These things are that good : when you get one, you keep it.

  8. Pretty early in my career too (wonder why?):

Music video shooting a tiger in a residential house (...) I'm at the bottom of the stairs and the tiger is upstairs coming down those stairs... Animal wrangler pushes the tiger one step down because the tiger would not move. One thing the wrangler had not checked is that the wall along the stairs is all mirrors, and the tiger , of course, saw "another" tiger in the mirror .... OMG. He panicked and jumped back roaring like crazy, stumped on the railing, it broke; tiger ran downstairs (towards me of course) and just laid on the floor (it was scared by the "other" tiger) . Production broke for lunch because the animal was so scared, it would not move at all from it's spot, they had to bring the cage INSIDE the house to finally put the tiger back in the cage...poor thing.

I have never been so scared in my entire film career. I promised the wrangler I would never work with him for the rest of my life. Crazy thing is we had a set photographer and I still have the shot just before the tiger "flipped" : priceless...DSC02143.jpg
