The Tiffen Company is pleased to announce that the 4th Annual Lake Arrowhead Classic Steadicam Workshop is scheduled for March 20-26, 2010. Held at the beautiful UCLA Conference Center at Lake Arrowhead, California, this intensive 6 day workshop features all of the Tiffen Steadicam systems.

The rugged location, great dining and expert instruction make for an intense and fun week. The group for this workshop is 16 students. Once again, both Jerry Holway and Steadicam inventor Garrett Brown will be present to instruct, along with other instructors from around the world.

We will also be hosting the infamous Operators' Night, where Steadicam Operators who are based in the L.A. area come up to visit, share tips and anecdotes and sometimes show off their gear. LA Ops- look here as the workshop approaches for the date of that event.

The spots for this workshop are reserved first come, first served. The tuition is $ 3,000 USD and is pre-paid. This includes housing from the night of the 20th of March through the night of the 25th of March. It also includes first-class dining on site.

Does that make me a shifty switcher ? As you can see, the former students depart the workshop with a sense of reverence for the older more experienced Instructors, and a hypnotic myopic biopic intense focus on all things Steadicam.

Nelson, I will call Abel now to ask. However, a search of Google Maps plugging in that address will give you a HUGE range of hotels in lower Manhattan. Some should be within walking distance, ok? Try that, and while you are doing so, I'll talk to my guys over at Abel. See if they have one they recommend.

Yes, breakfast and lunch are provided. Brian is correct, the rest of the info is on the web site. However I am glad to offer it here as well.

We use the Flyer and Pilot Steadicam systems at this workshop, as we do at all 2 day Flyer/ Pilot Workshops.

The tuition is $ 500.00 USD and is paid when you register. There is no deposit period, the full tuition is paid when the registration is sent in.

Each student gets a certificate of completion and a Steadicam t-shirt.

The Tiffen Company is pleased to announce our return to Historic Banning Mills in the countryside of Georgia for our Eastern Classic Steadicam Workshop. This year we are holding the workshop from Sunday December 6 to Saturday December 12.

This intensive immersion workshop features all of the latest Steadicam systems, from Ultra 2 and Ultra 2C to Archer 2. Lead Instructor Jerry Holway and 3-4 other highly experienced Steadicam Operator/ Instructors bring experience to 16 students, who work from 8 am to 10 pm daily. Tuition is $ 3,000.00 and includes luxury housing, meals and instruction.

Yes, we do offer longer strap sets for the Flyer Vest. You get a longer waist strap, and 2 chest strap extensions.

To address the OP, Andy my feeling is that due to your height, you'd be good in a standard Flyer vest. The Compact vest is reduced along the "Y" Chest spar, with a shorter telescoping bar to go with it. 5 ' 6 " may be taller than you can get away with on the Compact Vest. You'd want to avoid winding up with a vest that is a bit too short.

You're slender, it sounds. The straps can be tightened and adjusted to allow for a slender torso like yours.

And, Hi Tom !! Your memory serves you correctly. We had a customer who requested that we make him a longer set. Seemed a good idea- till then, my home-stitched longer straps were the only ones. We offer an easy-to-plug-in set now.

Indeed. Our socket blocks use the identical hole array on the back. There are some larger Steadicam vest owners who have bought the socket for our Flyer or Pilot vest for just this reason.

Also chiming in to add that yes, you can use the Flyer vest with our Pilot. The weight of the Flyer or Flyer LE exceeds what we feel our Pilot vest should be made to support, so we do not recommend trying to go "backwards" with the vests.

Bottom line, Nick, is that you're flying! Let me know here or by email if you have any questions about our Clipper rigs.

Hi Michael,

Excellent questions and complex to answer. I would say that it depends on what country you live in, what countries you are traveling to where you need to lay your hands on a Flyer LE or two, what the exchange rates are internationally, etc.

I live in the United States, and so can address costs here. Our Steadicam Flyer LE with a standard definition monitor is list priced at $ 7,995.00. Our extensive dealer network sells below list on items like the Flyer LE.

I will send this thread link to my colleagues in the United Kingdom, who can address pricing over there.
