  1. Well dang Will, you're welcome, sir! I see that you posted that a while ago, but I'm just stumbling upon it now.

Since the above is the nicest thing anybody has ever said/written about me, I'm forwarding it to both my mother and my wife so that when I forget a birthday/anniversary/mother's day they will remember that I am a nice, caring, and thoughtful person.

And yes, modularity is nice too.

    Glad to help.

  2. Lawrence- I took a gander at the MDR3 yesterday at their booth at Cinegear. There are bracket mounting holes, just on one side though, so the lettering is gonna be 'upside-down' when mounted to your sled.

  3. Dearests,

    I have for sale:

    1. Glidecam Gold Series Vest.

Upgraded to the PRO vest a year ago.

    From the Glidecam website:

    http://www.glidecam....t-gold-vest.php

Vest purchased new from Adorama for $2,100 5 years ago. I've had some very, very heavy loads on it. It can handle anything your body can. There are some light, cosmetic scratches here and there from resting the rig on my shoulder over the years, and a little bit of rust/corrosion of the 'ski boot' ratchet-closure system, but the socket block (titanium, probably worth $4-500) and pads/cordura are in excellent shape. Brand new waist band replaced by Tom at Glidecam this year. Hasn't even been used since it was replaced. A decent, functional vest for $2k new, and a great starter vest for $1,000. PRICE: $1,000.

    2. Cinema Products 3a gimbal

In decent shape. Been living on a PRO post for 5 years doing it's job. Solid gimbal. No issues. The same gimbal somebody used on your favorite steadicam shot. PRICE: $1200

It's late and I'm watching "The Police Women of Dallas" on the Oprah Network and my stuff is in the room with my sleeping wife and if I go in there at 130 in the morning to grab steadicam stuff to photograph she'll probably divorce me. Therefore, pictures to follow on the 'morrow.

  4. I braved the 'elements' and the 405 on Thursday and drove on down to Irvine to pick one of these things up in person from Mike G. at Teradek. Very nice and straight-forward guy. As a matter of fact, everyone I've dealt with at Teradek has been very nice and helpful over the last couple of months as I tried to stay on top of the product's release. My initial customer experience is very positive.

Well, I hope the thing works. That would be frikkin' sweet. No more village griping about the Modulus feed and no more tethering myself all up to be damned when "hey, we'll just set the sled down, plug in the BNC and watch playback" just isn't good enough for the 20 year-old director. I get it. Once they've had the taste of glorious, real-time HD during the shot, anything else just isn't going to do for a lot of DPs/Directors/Clients/etc. out there.

These Bolts are out there now and we'll all know what's what soon enough. Please work, Teradek Bolt. Pleeeeeeeeaaase...
