  1. Hey folks.

My sled took a spill today (at home, no camera or me attached thankfully) and landed full-force onto the side-to-side of my PRO dbox 1, splitting the red delrin type worm drive in two. Yikes. The bolt is still intact, but the worm drive itself is useless. Is this catastrophic? Can this be repaired? I know GPI hasn't had these parts around for years, but do I have any other options out there? I can't afford a new (or even a used db2) donkey box right now and I'm really about to start crying.

Somebody please, please, please have some good news for a bruthah...

  2. Ron really? I was up there yesterday and the gal at the register took me over to the counter and pulled out these screws that were, like, a mile long. I said, "dontcha have anything shorter?" She said "nope". Oh well. Next time go to Nick's house...they're only $10!

    Thanks, John.

I looked thru a bunch of scuba forums where people were talking about flying with their 1650s. The chatter over there centers mostly around weight. If you're under 50 lbs, they pretty much let an inch or two slide, and don't ding you for oversize baggage. I've got a vest and arm in mine and that's it. 49.4 lbs...

Sled is broken down into a 1610, and an aircraft case for my batteries and chargers. Battery case is EXACTLY 50 lbs. I'll be carrying on bartech, plates, connectors/bncs, modulus, clamshell, and cables in a 1520 and have a knapsack on my back for underwear and toothbrush. I've removed anything from my 'carry-on' that I think would cause a problem with TSA, (zip-ties, gerber, scissors) but if there's anything anybody knows about the m-one or some steadicam plates not being able to make it thru the checkpoint I'd love to know.

  4. Have any of you guys tried to sneak on a pelican 1650 as 'standard' checked baggage? it is .87 inches over the size limit, and I'm thinking about risking it. any experiences? I would imagine that the skycaps might overlook .87 inches, but those dudes' jobs are disappearing faster than ours! any input would be appreciated.

  5. Greetings everyone!

Took a spill and busted my marrell. It's been at Terry's shop in Redondo while I was on vacation last week, but still waiting on a part from England. Got a job tomorrow! Anybody have a PRO 1 compatible monitor I can take off your hands for a few hours tomorrow? I'm in Los Feliz and can get to you today, tonite, or tomorrow morning and have it back to you by sunday nite.

    thanks, guys and gals.

  6. I've had my Rig Engineering battery Hanger for almost a year now. If any of you PRO 1 owners in LA are thinking of upgrading to an AB mount, feel free to drop me a line and come take a look.

  7. I guess the mexican coke arrangement was a deal-breaker for those of you case-less super post owners. the deal has now been downgraded to a a twelve ounce can of atlanta coke. if no reply is recieved by thursday, Calzone case may be found at the goodwill store on hollywood by the vista theatre.

Dave "who doesn't want a super-post case?" Baldwin

  8. Hi everybody

I have an aircraft-style case manufactured by a company called Calzone that is taking up too much room. The wife says it has to go. Willing to trade for 1 (one) 355 mL bottle of Mexican coca-cola, the kind made with the cane sugar and not the high-fructose corn syrup.

Come and take it off my hands. Case is in great condition and perfect for a super-post.

  9. Hey James

Yeah, I had ordered a 1650, but was surprised when my sled was a little too long to fit in the case. Jack at GPI had to add an adapter to mate my PRO 2 center post with a PRO 1 gyro/lower j-box and the extra inch or so put the sled over the 1650 length capacity.

The US retail on the 1730 is $400. I know it's a tad wide and a tad deep, but it's only a pound or two heavier than the 1650 and it's gotta be cheaper than getting a custom case made. By the way, I love my battery hanger and Hugo's customer service (as I'm sure you know) is exceptional.

    Take care, James.

  10. Hi everyone.

'Pologize if this is old news, but it's still news to me and I'm happy about it and want to pass it on:

New(?) Pelican 1730. Int. dimensions 34" x 24" x 12.5". Sounds to me like someone could put a steadicam in that thar thing. Especially if they've got a longish sled like mine. (pro 1 with one of Hugo's battery hangers).

    Much love,

    Dave

  11. Hello All

    It's been a minute...hope everyone's new year was uneventful.

Looking to rent your bartech for this weekend. AbelCine didn't call me back and my buddy's Bartech is out in Palmdale. Will drive there if necessary. Looking for something a little closer. I'm in Los Feliz.

Can get you $150-$175 or so for the weekend from the production. That's about the daily rate from the houses anyway. If you've got one that you're not using this Saturday and Sunday let your equipment make you some money!

    Thanks, guys.
