Hi Guys
The NFTS workshop is usually very good and they always have good operators instructing but usually cannot tell exactly who until quite late in the day.
FYI our workshops are GBP 695.00 INCLUDING VAT. You can contact me at robin.thwaites@tiffen.com.

Hi Matt
See if you can get to the Video Forum/Broadcast Live show at Earl's Court (sorry, London!) 30th this month to 1st Feb. If so come and see me we will certainly have Steadicam there!

Hi Adrien
Sounds like your hi-voltage power supply may be going, suggest you contact Cartoni France and see if Regis can help.

Hi Eric
Sounds like you may need to slightly loosen the Allen key that clamp the lower sled in position and twist it straight. You should be able to do it with the same Allen key that adjusts the gimbal position.
If in doubt e-mail me a picture to robin.thwaites@tiffen.com.

Hi Mack
The Pilot takes 9 AA disposable cells or 10 rechargeables and they should last a day of shooting, also look out for the special package with 70W IDX batteries and a charger.

Guys
Where is the noise coming from? if it if the plastic parts then try dry silicon spray lubricant (available from RS Components over here). Don't use WD40 as all your screws will fall out. Maybe french chalk would work but a little messy.

Hi Toni
Also may be worth checking the tilt assembly but be careful not to overtighten.

Hi Robert
The Chrosziel system is good and worth considering their quick release plate to go with it.

Hi David
* Are you able to shoot from above on a 90 degree angle?
Not quite sure I understand, do you mean pointing straight down? I am out of the office for a few days but if you e-mail me at robin.thwaites@tiffen.com I will pick it up on my phone.
* Where can I purchase it in the UK for a good price? On the steadicam.com website it costs $849 which means in the UK it should be approx £430, but it seems much more expensive everwhere I look.
Depands on the retailer but don't forget the freight, duty and VAT. Merlins are relatively quite expensive to ship compared to the price.

Hi David
The HVX is a bit of a lump for handheld, worse if you want to add accessories. If you can run to the Merlin with the arm and vest it would be better, it also gets you the new metal gimbal. Call me in Oxford if you want to chat 01869 343835.

Hey Amando
Say hello to Anita and the General for me!

Hi Eric
Glad you are having fun with your Flyer, mind you that PAG Superpack is a bit of a lump! I am with Chris on this one, most likely cause of the pressure as described is loose chest straps allowing the front spar to drop forwards and twist the waist band into your stomach/bladder area. Loose chest straps also allow the spar to move sideways meaning that you have to use excess trim on the socket block for anything close to comfort.

The next Tiffen-Europe Three Day Steadicam Workshop has been scheduled for the 14th November at the BBC Wood Norton Training Centre (near Evesham, 2 hours from London). This is already filling up even prior to publicising it so if you are interested please do come back to me asap.
Naturally we will be training on all the latest gear, Ultra 2, Clipper 2, Archer, etc. plus probably Flyer and Pilot.
Please contact me by e-mail to robin.thwaites@tiffen.com or phone at +44 1869 34 38 35.

Hi Norbert
The monitor you were looking at is the HDSDI version, the standard Flyer monitor is USD 695.00.

Sharpie is quite recent over here unless you look hard but now advertised on TV. Never seen a silver one in UK but the paint pen shoud do the job.

Hi Marc
Should be good for around 6 amps.

Was wondering if anyone could tell me what type of plastic is used for the Ultra vest (shoulder pieces). I've managed to break them (again); right where the clasps join. Last time I riveted on 'splints' made out of aluminium as a temporary fix. Is the plastic the same as the waist band?
Any info. gratefully received.
Paul
Hi Paul
Give me a call when you get time, I am out this morning if you pick this up today - Friday.

Elliott,
The G-50 is total load 50lbs, have seen a Clipper 2 with a 435 loaded working fine including 4lbs film load - don't forget to factor this in. An EFP with red springs will max out with a Digibeta, wide angle and matte box but they may vary from arm to arm - it was not really designed for 35 and will not give you the 24 volts (30 if you need 150 fps).
You need to know all and any for the accessories that may be used including the lens - and hope it's not a variable prime.
The real answer is get to the camera rental company and try it but be prepared to rent in a rig.
Good luck

Hi Stephen
Nice camera but the weight builds up with all the accessories that are usually fitted. Watch out for heavy power consumption.

Hi Erik
Send an email to my desk and I will pick it up when I get back from Russia next week. Re the rubber bumper, just glue it back on. Super glue will do it but makes the rubber go hard and I don't like super glue around gimbals, EvoStik (rubbe rbased impact adhesive) would be better.
Robin
Today i received a complete new monitor from Tiffen. I was just returned from a corperate shoot and put directly the monitor on the Rig. Miror is now possible and works great.
The shot last week went however well and was great considering the mis-orientation of left/right..
Thanks Robin and thanks to Tiffen for this great customer service !!!
Best, Erik
Hi Erik
You are welcome, I thought the alternative mirror brain flip surgery might be a bit drastic.
