  2. was doing a shot in this real windy valley

    things are going perfect

got some grips with 4x doubles

a big long gust of wind blew thru

in the middle of the 2 actors dialogue

all the sudden my g-50 arm starts singing to us

like a high not on a organ

at the end of the shot

one of the actors starts cracking up

    going ok who was whistling

i go i think it was my arm

stepped back out into the wind

and sure enough it was the honeycombs on the arm

put a little tape on the openings

and we were back into action

  3. buster

    stanton jimmy jib

has a zoom focus control for the lenses you are talking about

there is a certain one that they make for steadicam operators

if you are using an hd lens

    sometimes they like to creep-n-out

there is a little pot that you can control that with

    go to www.jimmyjib.com

i actually really enjoy operating with mine

also you can use the stanton side arm motor with the bartech ff

    the motor is reasonably priced

just a small mod that jim makes to the controller

    best regards mark morgan

    Hey Guys,

I just finished developing a new Sunlight readable LCD. I have spent most of my time developing the LCD panel, and as a result, it is pretty bare bones right now - but all the extra goodies will come as needed. My goal was to produce a nice LCD, with great resolution. I know what we all need in a monitor, but please chime in and post your comments and thoughts. This certainly won't be the "hook up to everything and be perfect for all situations" monitor, but it will get us half way there.

Check out the teaser pictures. The open frame LCD is, obviously, the Sunlight readable unit. The unit on the bottom is for comparison, and is your standard 7? 400nit LCD off shore unit. The pictures were taken with Winnipeg winter sunlight as the light source. Requests for additonal photos will be considered as time permits. And yes I put a smudge mark on my new LCD...arg

Information (not complete and subject to change):

    - Case has been 3D modeled and it?s currently being machined out of 6061 aluminum. Pictures to come.

    - Can be mounted on and off the Rig. It will have a 1/4-20 mount aswell.

    - Black anodizing - duh. Laser engraved.

    - The monitor connector will be PRO compatible, unless ordered differently. (ie BNC -XLR - Hirose)

    - It can have an Anton Bauer gold mount on the rear if ordered.

    -

2 line inputs, with individual termination. It is unlikely that I will integrate HD inputs.

    - No crosshair/frame line/bubble at this time - check out Marrell?s unit.

    - Operational power consumption will be under 10 watts.

    - Input Voltage is 12-36vdc.

    - Resolution is 800 x 480.

    - Contrast and Nits are top secret.

?More to come as this develops

  6. aloha robert, how are you, mine just started creeking as well about 5 days ago the same noise you described and mine is only about 3 months old as well,i'm bummed cause i'm working on a feature tomorrow so that means bust out the back up til i find the solution for the creeking

    mahalo and aloha my friend

I have a G50 arm about three months old and it started to creak this weekend.

With the help of my wife who was able to put her ears near the arm, it's coming from the bone / arm section closest to the gimbal as I boom downward and also a tiny bit when I boom up. The join section closest to the post.

It sounds and resonates like the spring to me; sort of like an old screen door. It's not a like a long continuous creak, more incremental if that makes any sense. Like whatever it is is "giving" in tiny steps as the spring or arm moves. I can feel whatever it is physically when I touch the spring and a little on the arm. It is definitely NOT subtle booming down and would ruin audio.

I'm hesitant to focus on the identifying it as the spring since I'm not very mechanical; that's just what it sounds like to my ears.

Searching an earlier post for "creak" there were some references to CorrosionX, T-9 and others mostly related to corrosion on the G50 bolts. Would this be something I would spray or drip in tiny amounts in that general area on the arm?

There's no corrosion on anything and the arm has not been subjected to any moisture or particularly dusty work. I do live in the desert though (Las Vegas) and our humidity is sometimes only 3-6% so it's not uncommon for things to dry up quickly.

    Thanks in advance!
