Hi Marcin
I own 3 BFD. The first one bought in 2004. The last one in 2015.
I live in Argentina, and everytime I had a problem with the BFD (usually because Focus Puller let drop the transmiter, broke antenas or burning some integrated for a wrong cable connection) Jim bartell answer was inmediatly, and after 48 hours all spare parts were here in Argentina, below of the world.
The costumer service is amazing.
Just my experience.
Besto to all,
Gus

Hi guys
I bought a SmallHD 7" Pro High Bright as backup monitor.
Usually Im using it for Director monitor or Focus Puller with a Teradek RX.
Im powering both with an Anton Bauer Gold Mount (P tap-lemo for Teradek and XLR-Hirose for Monitor BUT, I have to change a lot of times batteries.
Usually in the sled with the Cinetronic, I change once or twice batteries in a day, but with the Small HD I have to change 3 or 4 times in a day.
Is maybe a Setup I dont know into the monitor to save power?
Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
Gus

Hi guys
I was looking info about Small HD 502.
Is by batteries the only way to power this monitor?
Can I power the monitor from the sled? I didnt see any info about.
Thanks in advance,
Gus

This topic is only to share my latest experience with Jim Bartell and his Bartech Focus Device.
I recently bought my 3rd BFD, and the unit arrived in only 2 days.
10 years ago I bought the first one.
7 years ago the second, and now the 3rd.
Always I had a problem with the equipment ( not more than 3 or 4 times in 10 years, and was because focus puller dropped to the floor the unit or burnt for bad connections) Jim helped inmediatly to solve the problem and in less than 3 days the spare parts arrived -and the problems were solved- here in Argentina, below of the world.
I hope all the manufacturers have the service like Jim have.
Thanks a lot Jim!

It seems integrated problems. Maybe one of them isnt adjusted or maybe burnt. First try to adjust all of them.
If you have to change it, maybe the better option is to buy anothers for backup.
Change it is very easy.
Jim will send it and explain how to do if you ask. He is ten man.

Hi Rupert
Ask Clip On for lenses, steadicam magazines, and try to use the 435 lighter as you can.
I dont know what is your drop time and the monitor are you using, but if you use heavy camera configuration, maybe you will be problems to find your drop time with the EFP and only one battery.
Arri 435 is not a heavy camera, but remember that EFP was designed to use for video cameras (and that included vest, gimbal and top stage)
The fact you upgrade 12 to 24 doesnt means that the sled is perfect to fly heavies cameras.
Enjoy the experience and patience with the students!
Best to all and a hug from Argentina,
Gus

Hi guys
In all my steadicam career, I worked in 45 movies as steadicam operator (and a lot as assisstant).
Today, after waiting almost 2 years, I started my first movie as Director -In 2009 I won a kind of contest between hundred of scripts, and the National Institute of Cinema here give me almost $300.000 in order to do this film-
Yes, I know this is not the best budget, but with a lot of care, here in Argentina you do an independent film with $300.000.
We will use a lot of steadicam yes, but te movie doesnt need long steadicam shot.
I hope to do my job well as Director.
Im happy and only wanna share this with you.
Best to all,
Gus
PS: Steadicam configuration?
We are using Arri Alexa + ultraprimes lenses + clip-on ;)

Great 6 points David!!! :D

Hi Justin
Take care with the gimbal.
Provid gimbal was designed to carry a weight, and maybe with your upgrades, you are using heavies cameras with 3A arm and vest, and now with the new topstage.
just my 2 cent.
