  2. Ok! I could not resist! I have to chime in as well. I am totally shocked by what I have been reading. I have known and worked with Chris Probst for years. He is a total gentleman and one of the nicest & talented DP's in music videos. I have known Jaime Bussant for years as well and have watched him move up the ranks of the camera department...Jaime as ALWAYS been an easy going all around nice guy. I have known Bliss for years..when he trained his brother to be an AC..he would never tolerate any disrespect from anyone in his camera department. I am in total shock over this. I do not believe Chris said to call you, "Boss"..if he did..I assure you he was joking. That guy is one of the nicest DP's..he never yells or gets upset..Did I mention again..that I am totally shocked!!!

As a an operator who has done Hundreds of music videos of all types I find this experience outrageous and unbelievable. Are we sure we got the names right???

with respect and no tone implied

  3. Thank you everyone for the feedback! I am sending all the gear into Preston tomorrow. This is actually my first failure of the Preston gear that I can remember. I have been a Preston owner for 7 years now...I feel this is an isolated incident and it will be taken care of. I will let everyone know how it goes. The gear is normally FLAWLESS and I feel they are still thee best Follow Focus around. Thanks

  4. Hello everyone,

Have any Preston FF (MDR-2)owners noticed any breakdown in high temperatures. I was shooting in 100 degree heat yesterday and my Preston kept losing its connection. It would not reset..the unit was hot to the touch. I would unplug the motors...let the unit sit for a minute or two then it was back to normal only to fail a minute later. I have been running the unit for 30 plus minutes in my air conditioned office right now and its running flawlessly. Any thoughts from the steadi-community will be greatly appreciated

    Thank you in advance

  5. Hello everyone. Does anybody have any current contact information on Glen Powell from canada. His email address was glenfpowell@sympatico.ca and it no longer works. I sold him a piece of gear through this forum and need to get in touch with him ASAP. Thank you in advance for the help

  6. Hello,

Been traveling for some time now with the gear. I have had every conceivable disaster happen to me and feel I finally have some insight:

    1) absolutely follow the advice previous and take pictures of the gear in its cases, how it should be put away, and the gear all set up...this will give TSA an idea of what they are looking at. Put into plastic sleeves and tape them to the inside of the lids of the cases w/explanations.Also keep a copy with you on your person.

    2) Make the cases as heavy as possible. I travel with 3 cases. I used to travel with 4. things were kind of light and spread out...until I looked out the window of the plane at the gate and saw the baggage personnel throw the cases. Making everything as heavy as possible ensures that it cannnnot be thrown. Pay the excess charges(production usually pays) its worth it. All my case are in the 70lbs range.

    3) Travel with a fully detailed inventory w/serial numbers. several copies w/ gear and on your person. If disaster strikes and things go missing your organized and prepared.

    4) I learned to design cases with the beefiest "twist style" latching devices. Dont lock anything. I have discovered case lock downs "sheared off" while in transit and your case comes out open and compromised. Talk to Janet devita at A&J cases she can help you with that.

    5) This is obvious. Make certain all cases are labeled clearly with your name, address and telephone number..

    Hope this helps!
