What do u live guys use as a wireless return feed?
-
This is what I think, and I may be totally wrong perhaps the ops out there with far more experience than me will disagree...
I think that on features particularly the ones that only use Steadicam as a daily call would instead have a mini as the backup body in the truck and then as more and more people have gimbals will lead to say the DIT assistant having his gimbal that he just bought as he got out of film school on set or in the truck and then happily use that.
Or say the dop/1st/2ac will also have their own gimbals sitting in the truck and so on.
I know of jobs that I didn't get due the production/DP/director wanting to use their own gimbals that they purchased, in fact I know of about 4 people with their own ranging from sparks to dop having now.
The only shots I've ever seen done by gimbals are low wide shots and the bts shows them all hunched over, just watch the bts of the Alexa mini video on their website.
Yes I believe Steadicam is far superior especially if u have honed your craft but I think the gimbals have effectively done what gunpowder did to the mounted knight.
There were many people that said film will never die, it's far superior, yes it is but that didn't stop digital cameras effectively bankrupting Kodak especially Alexa.
Also gone will be the ease of use that comes with using a standard Alexa and bring on the mayhem of every body coming with different accessories just like every Epic I've encountered.
Maybe I'm wrong and I dearly hope I am but I think we are going to be severely affected by this camera, live guys maybe not but defiantly features and commercials.

I think if had to put a film camera on and plug it in my sled would have a massive heart attack and say what the hell is this! But it's so good... Gimme more

Any one have one laying around? If you do please hook me up

Hi all
I was wondering...
I saw somewhere there was a poll about hand above or below whilst doing low mode,
And I'm sure everyone has their preference, but...
I find having my hand above the gimbal way more comfortable than below but it feels very different like the forces are all reversed.
Are there any tips on operating like this or is it a case of just practise it until if feels right?
(Btw..i have a MK-V 1,5" carbon fibre post with MK-V gimbal)

Aah ok, thanks for the info

I have an m26p heden would that work?

Hi all
Can you only use digital motors with this?
I may be mistaken but I think there was a horizontal motor that you could use?

I've got a quad bike cover, works a charm

Anyone have one lying around?

Hi all
I'm looking for a monitor to use as an onboard monitor, it won't be used for Steadicam, but will be used for handheld.
Would be nice to get one with waveform etc.
Preferably $1000 us or less would be great

I really like those clamps, gonna get some

How long is long... Just curious as to actual inch length... As in bottom of sled to top off stage. In case you were wondering... No puns intended here
-
Maybe a good idea to find a PRO1, modular, upgradable...

What rods are those that you are using for the monitor bracket?
-
Still don't get eye level…

Ok shot, I have had mine since 2011 and never updated anything, so if it ain't broke don't fix it...
-
I must say that where I live I think modularity is the most important feature of my rig as i can't just drive down the road to the manufacturer. I have a 1.5" post therefore if I want to change/upgrade my gimbal I can choose between PRO/XCS/MK-V. Also if I want to pick up a used one it is much easier. Also as many ops before have done I can pick and choose parts that I think/like best.
If something breaks it is quicker/cheaper to ship in part I need rather than an entire sled or i would have to dissemble the thing, which although is possible who really wants to take apart your rig the night before...

Is there a firmware update for the decimator2? If so is it worth doing?
-
Are you measuring from the top of the lower electronics to bottom of the top stage to get that 26"?
-
If u buying an archer, I would save my money and not buy the flyer. Rather save the cash and spend it on other assescories that you will need down the road.

Docking ring not a bracket

Looking for something simple, just needs to work

Vest features
in Vests
Posted
Hey all, just wondering about the features of different vests, ie I saw that the sachler one has a pouch for com unit. And the Exo has articulating hips.
Do any of the other on the market have nifty feature sets that we should know of?
Just interested to know and no this isn't a vest vs vest discussion/gruelling as we should all know it comes down to preference......
