  1. As long as the screw is fastened correctly, the weight of the camera is taken by the tension applied on the screw when fastening. The screw thread will fail if you let it comes loosely. Usually I will tie the camera on the mount with a cable tie when use it on a jib for safety precaution, because it will fly over peoples. But I don't think you need to worry on a steadicam
  2. I have my merlin have similar problem. After trimming and adjust to my desire position, the trimming will not hold and gradually shift out of balance after using for several minutes or after i test the drop time. Now I need to test drop time every time I trim to ensure it won't shift much. Firstly I found that there is a gap which leads to small play in the hinge, I tape it with gaffer tape. Now the hinge play problem is fixed, the trim problem is improved. However it still can't hold the setting trim exactly. I don't know whether it is the gimbal problem. (the fine white line in the hinge is the gaffer tape)
  3. Hi Mr Smollar, thanks for you tips, I'll try that. It is easy to learn how to adjust the balance and drop time, but quite difficult in control the framing in action. Seems my arm need more exercise. This 5 lbs weight makes me stop after a just few minutes. Hope that my poor english is not disturbing. Thanks you very much.
  4. That just looks like you need practice. The common misconception of Steadicam systems is that they just work out of the box. If you search through the forums, you will see this thread being brought up again and again. All I can say to you, is that you need to practice, take some lessons, read, etc. I hope this helps. Thanks for your help Mr. Rencher, in our local forum, newbies post also keep repeating, however not many wish to share the technique. It is weird that if I run instead of walk when using merlin, bouncing up and down with foot step will somehow smaller. Anyway, nice to meet you, and thank you very much.
  5. Hello, I am new to Merlin, and I found that my footstep is recorded Would it be the problem of my handling?
