  1. We are very happy to share the launch of our new sleds with you, L'Aigle Concorde 2 and Odyssée 2. The Concorde 2 features : a 150cm/59" long, double extension, 40mm/1,57", no-tool Carbon Fiber Superpost a beautiful, excellent gimbal (5/8" mount) a simplified topstage with 15mm rods an easy-to-adjust monitor bracket on 15mm, 36cm/14" long Carbon Fiber rods a base module with double V-Lock or Anton Bauer mounts a micrometric for/aft adjustment of the whole base module for easy dynamic balance. Attached a couple of pictures. We have a new website on line! www.laigleparis.fr
  2. Sure, Charles, I'm curious. I think the multiplicity of latex straps is a very good technic (no risk of breaking, arm load capacity adjusted without any mechanics, hence perfectly silent, long-lasting and cost effective, easy to replace, no limited load capacity range, our arms carrying any weight up to their maximum with an equal quality of suspension...) We are working on all possible embodiments of this technic for two years, but if you surprise me, I'll send you a bottle of Champagne right away!
  3. Looking forward to seeing you then, in NAB, IBC or elsewhere. We'll have something new, that might interest you, Job and Charles... L'AIGLE www.laigleparis.fr Come and visit us in: PARIS | 10/20-10/22 | SIEL-SATIS, Booth E37, MUMBAI | 10/29-10/31 | BROADCAST INDIA, Booth L1221, TOKYO | 11/18-11/20 | INTERBEE, Booth 2N-25
  4. In fact, we are not big fans of this habit of making silly jokes, especially from people who usually stand 10 meters away from our booths and products. Imagine someone going on all Steadicam forums, calling you a "bad operator", because of your T-shirt, your shoes, your haircut, your name, but with no comments on your actual work, your frame, movements and posture. This is exactly what we get from a bunch of people after each show (less this time). We hear and use constructive comments and feedbacks from our clients and operators. We talked with Charles Papert at NAB this year about the many knobs on the topstage – we then came up with an idea to remove them all with an original design… Even you, Job, who complaint about the gap at the bottom of your back while wearing our universal backmounted harness last year, led us to introduce an inflatable lumbar cushion in the rear pads... Best regards, L'AIGLE www.laigleparis.fr Come and visit us in: PARIS | 10/20-10/22 | SIEL-SATIS, Booth E37, MUMBAI | 10/29-10/31 | BROADCAST INDIA, Booth L1221, TOKYO | 11/18-11/20 | INTERBEE, Booth 2N-25
  5. Charles, A shame you didn't introduce yourself and acted like a "wannabe" operator, even in your posture! I understand, it's your way to prevent commercial speeches. But had you ask your questions, listed in your review, directly to us, we might have enlightened your concerns immediately. We use specially made hyperelastic Latex straps, with a special process during vulcanization to achieve "hyperelasticity" and make them unbreakable, at least when they are installed in our arms (you can of course cut them with a knife). That's why we offer a 10 years warranty on the straps, and replace them for free, no matter the cause (in two years it didn't happen yet). Yes, it makes our arm extremely light. The new little Arm for the AIGLE TITAN weights 1,2 kg (2,7 lbs). The CHD 15kg payload arm weights 4 kg (9 lbs). The LTX straps also make them perfectly silent - this amazes anyone who are used to old spring arms. The fact that we don't need a payload adjustement mechanism (you just add or remove straps), make the quality of the arm "undying". No play, no noise can grow anywhere. Last but not least, the boom-range is huge (84cm/33"), the isoelastic feel is great, the elasticity is impressive, no walking effect at all. See what Charles Papert wrote after NAB this year (thanks again, Charles - what we discussed about will be useful). Now, your questions : 1. Temperature. How does it affect the strength of the elastic? By high temperatures, you need to add one or two straps more than usual. By cold temperatures, you need to remove one or two straps less than usual. 2. Precision placement of components when the need to quickly change the lift and/or feel of the arm / 3. Fine tuning the arm on the fly is impossible. The way to do it, is to prepare the arm with a stronger payload capacity than needed. On the fly, you just have to pull one or more straps away. 4. The need to carry a large amount of elastic bands in a bag and taking them out on set and getting the looks from studio crew… As an aspiring operator, you surely care about looks from studio crew. But this fades away in time. Besides you might want to try and explain them the great advantages of this technique. 5. I think, most important of all, would you trust a rented 35mm or your own very expensive camera on a system that uses elastic bands? Funny question <_< . There is absolutely no chance that all the unbreakable straps break suddenly all together and that the camera on the stabilizer fall all the way down along the boom range of the arm. Even if you snick them all with a knife, the arm would just boom down and not go up easily anymore. That's all. Our arms aren't just one piece of "elastic" - there are sturdy aluminium parts, bearings, screws all around!! There are a lot more risks to see a spring breaking, and pieces of metal flying through the air directly into someone's eye. Besides, our CHD system accepts 15kg payload. It doesn't suit most of 35mm cameras. As for the backmounted vest, you absolutely have to adjust it for each bodies, as accurately as possible. Hence the minutes you waited for us to set the harness to your size. But once it is done, you don't have to do it again. Now vests or harnesses are a very personal matter. For your XXL body, we would have proceed with other fine-tuning adjustments. But this takes time. And you were on the run and didn't really want to give the products a chance. Anyway, we couldn't imagine anyone of this little world, outside of experienced operators like CP who have nothing to proove, saying that our "Not-Steadicam", not expensive products are just great, maybe this or that to improve, like for everything else on Earth, but great. That's not a problem for us. Now, we know your face! Next time, we'll be able to talk to you properly.
  6. Hi Matteo, Here is our website : www.laigleparis.fr The backmounted vest, when properly adjusted to the operator's body, is absolutely joined to it. The large paded aluminium belt, attached under the navel with two rigid lever buckles, takes care for that. Pierre L'AIGLE - THE EAGLE
  7. Pierre will love this one !!! No, Régis, I really don't care. We find the same funny guys' same funny jokes on internet forums, after each show and once in a while. They just have to hate what you're doing, for whatever shameless reason. "I hate the blue parts", "I hate the inflatable lumbar cushion's pump", "I hate sheet metal construction" (this is precisely what makes the good prices!)... "I hate their booth's carpet", "I hated the weather outside, as I passed by the booth", etc. Any technical reproach? No. The RED camera is as detestable : "it looks like a steam locomotive and doesn't resemble a Sony or Panasonic camera"! But is this what matters? It works, does it quite well, and offers some unique features. We're here to offer a serious, technically flawless, attractively priced alternative and the service for it. I don't think that's bad. Fortunately, we also had the visit of many interesting and lovely people, with a tremendous knowledge of each and every slightest detail and smallest aspect of stabilizing systems, who took time to try and to "expertise" our stabilizers and discuss about what's great and what could be even better. One of them is right here above. Maybe he'll write a few words. If you have any question, I'll be glad to help. Pierre L'AIGLE - THE EAGLE
  8. Job, I took your comments seriously at the IBC, as I thought it was friendly, or at least "neutral", hence useful. But read again the aggressive and mocking review you made the day after. You've been contemptuous and we should take it with a smile ? Look at you when you're treated the same way. Anyway. Have a nice day too.
  9. That is exactly the problem. You can't, or shouldn't, compare a 5660 Euros System with any 100000 USD System, without taking the price under consideration. I'm glad, for all operators, that a Steadicam Ultra or a Pro has features that our Aigles does not show (yet) and that they get something in return, when spending 20 times more money. What we heard, most of the time at the IBC, from operators, is : "Impressive for that money". We try to offer every indispensable feature for the smallest possible price, that is : a lightweight and sturdy all aluminium construction, a lockable topstage, ultrasmooth micrometric adjustment knobs, an easely removable camera plate, an inbuilt accessories mounting bracket, J-boxes with BNC video composite, component (optional) and 12V connectors, a post with double extension from 44 to 130cm (17"-51"), an unique gimbal fork integrating the bearings of both the X and Y axes for highest precision, a gimbal with zero friction double main bearings, double V-mount battery modules with very easy dynamic balancing, and others... We seek quality, above the reasonable price. We aim at being the right choice between high-end motion pictures rigs (Steadicam and a few others) and low cost rigs (Magiqcam and a lot of others). Please understand it's the hardest path. And we are really trying hard. Give us a break - or a chance ! See you next year, Erik.
  10. Job, I'm comparing our systems to a 100000 USD only to say that the result is the same. Now, of course, we can't offer for 5660 Euros (our full options price) all the features of a 100000 Dollar rig. But we offer everything to operate comfortably and get the job done. IT WORKS, for Christ's sake. Please understand that it requires a lot more efforts to achieve a perfectly functional product with an attractive price, rather than manufacturing THE perfect rig, whatever the price, and then sell it with a 500% margin or more. This, actually, is very easy. What is silly is this posture of yours, judging after 5 minutes, what's good or wrong, distributing fatherly awards or reprimands, never trying to understand. What makes you thing you know better than us what is a perfect rig ? We are just not on the price segment to afford every existing features. If they would all be there on our 5660 Euros System, we'd be bad at one thing only : business. About the connection of the arm : the arm was brand new, out of the factory. It's normal that one has to run a new mechanism in. Besides, we just unscrewed and screwed on the other side the part, for you to operate goofy. This wasn't done properly. Hence, the fact we had to disconnect the arm, set the part correctly and then connect it again with no problems. Period. But I remember your face and looks to Erik. Like I said : you never try to understand, you think you know, prompt to laugh and mock. This is my point about the few bright operators, like Chris Fawcett who also tried the system, in compare to the many others. Of course, we are looking for comments and feedbacks of operators, those who use our systems every day and others. I thought your visit at our stand was friendly, before I read your review here and heard you tone. By the way, a Pilot flies 5 kg, a Flyer 8 kg, not 15 kg. Erik, I don't quite get your point about the double extension post of the CONCORDE, one up for the camera, one down for the base module ? After trimming, you lock the post in the desired position and that's it... I read you review on HBS about the Sachtler systems, and all the problems. I know from a client in Belgium, who had his "spring canisters" changed for the third time now, that it still doesn't work properly. So why are you so soft, indulgent, comprehensive with Sachtler and obvious problems, and so contemptuous with L'AIGLE ? Because Sachtler is expensive ? Because we are doing something original ? Next year at the IBC, we will exhibit a new, "expensive", full options system. Compare this one to yours!
  11. Hello, I am the manager and developer of L'AIGLE. We had a great IBC 2008 show, great contacts, in particular with professionnal operators, who tried our systems and found it "impressive". Nice to see open-minded people in the realm of Steadicam. It was all, during those 5 days in the RAI of Amsterdam, only positive. But now, I stumble against this review here. We are a "Not-Steadicam" stabilizers manufacturer for 5 years now. So we are used to this kind of sick jokes and little minded, misinformed assertions. The "rubber" is in fact hyperlelastic Latex : a special process during the vulcanization of the latex makes it amazingly resistant and provide the arm with an impressive smoothness and silent functionning. The "LTX" straps are 10 years warranteed. The load capacity of the arm is given by the number of LTX straps you place in. There is no other adjustment mechanism. So no play, no noise could grow with the passing time. And it works absolutely fine. Just give it a try and stop the jokes before you tried or even saw it! The LTX arm suspension system is worldwide patented. Yes, we are doing something original, in the technology and in the design. We don't care that people like Job or Erik don't like it. This last guy stood 3 meters away from our stand, never approaching the system, never trying to understand anything, just laughing like a big teenager. We don't manufacture our products for this public. But we understand that the fact we propose a 4500 Euros system, that does exactly the same image than a 100000 USD, in the hands of a skilled operator of course, is a problem for those who paid there system on credit, still pay for it every month, and compete for certain jobs with operators who bought an AIGLE cash and start making profit on the fourth shooting. Of course, they just cannot be pleased. Hence, this stupid laughing. But we had also some bright operators, who "quietly" tried our systems, undestanding that the era of 100000 USD rigs will quite soon be over. We also had the visit of Garrett Brown, followed by a pack of people. He looked at the LTX arm with interest and just said "I see that it works". Of course, he knows better than anyone what he's talking about. A great mind deserving respect - which is very rare to encounter.
