Speaking of focus Charles what was your impression of the Hocus Focus system?

Thanks for all the insight Sydney, much appreciated. RCA on the sony (fx1000) isn't working, s-video is.

Hi all I hope this is in the right section. I have a Flyer and am buying the 5D mkii this week (as it has been used on the last couple of shots I have been on). My question is what other accessories should I start to look at. I realize I will need a weight plate, and a way to an image on the sled but most important is a follow-focus system. Is Bartech a good brand? Is there something cheaper? How do I power the motor off of the Flyer Sled? I also have a job upcoming that is using the Sony HDV-HVR, the only video hookup I saw was for s-video. Is there an s-video to BNC adapter out there? Thanks in advance for any insight

To make a long story short, I got the bearings out but damaged one racer on the way back in........secondly I removed the yoke from the gimbal (in retrospect it didn't need to be done) and putting it back together was awful, and left me with a couple extra washers. I was told how to clean the bearings from a very credible source however this person has infinitely more experience than I and being the beginner that I still am should have listened to my gut and left well enough alone. Needless to say I will contacting Michael tomorrow to see about servicing (I hope my insurance will cover it), in the meantime she is back together and well be Flying on a job in the morning, can't wait to see how it goes.....then again I can  Oh well, I hope some one else In my situation reads this post and it gives them pause

Sorry for the re-post, but is there anyone that can help me get the bearing-races out of their housing on my flyer gimbal?? I have a shoot tomorrow morning and would love to have them cleaned and re-assembled! Thank you

So I took apart the sled, removed the gimbal, romved the handle and then the yoke and now I have a black ring containing the bearings. My question is; is this as far as i need to go? Is this "ring" the bearings or do i need to actually remove them from the housing?? Thanks

I need to clean the bearings in my Flyer Gimbal (original model), and before I do I was hoping to get any tips or other peoples experiences (cautionary tales) with cleaning their Flyers before I take it apart. Thanks in advance

Hey Alan I had the same problem with my Flyer arm, I picked up a can of ACF-50 and problem solved. Hope this helps

Thanks Peter, do you have any pics? I received an email from another member with a schematic of a plate he designed which I might try to duplicate. This past weekend I used a ankle-weight securely fastened to the camera handle that really helped in making the rig behave in a more stable manner. Thanks again

Or a good machinest in So Cal who could provide me with one  Thanks

Hi guys, first off I did in fact use the search function and saw some good ideas! Now is anyone selling or creating any weight-plates for use with the Flyer? Thanks
-
Thanks Kevin, I just got off the phone with Tiffen and everything is good to go now!

Hi all, my F-bracket has the hole for the 'aircraft-pin' clocked at an angle so when it is attached to gimbal/yoke it pushes the post/sled to my back at an angle, my question is this correct? Secondly when I balance (right side up with camera upside down) while flying my side-side is off so I adjust? Should i balance upsisde down instead? Also I am getting what feels to be a bunch of lateral movement, I have tried shorter drop, repositioning the batt. maybe add weight to the camera? I am using a Flyer with HVX and one v-mount batt Thanks in advance for any comments suggestions Jason

Does the pin need to stay at about 45' angle to the nuts? Thanks Jason
