  1. Ben, You should expect the same performance in regards to latency with the Sidekick as you do with the 300 RX. Not increased (or decreased) latency, all Bolt systems are <1ms. Cheers, Andrew
  2. ...the big one, Valet parking!!! Teradek will be hosting a special event that takes an in-depth look at our latest product, COLR. Saturday, March 5th 2pm-6pm at our newest location, Creative Solutions Los Angeles (CSLA) 5329 West San Fernando Road Los Angeles, CA 90039 Please RSVP here: shopcreativesolutions.com/RSVP Hope to see you there!
  3. We've been using these kind of batteries daily for our in-house testing and at our trade shows. So far they have been pretty solid and 3-4 of these can confidently carry us through a long tradeshow (702+sidekick combo). Also sometimes we power our C300/Sony cam's simultaneously with our devices attached too. We do sell these batteries on our site with an included barrel-2pin lemo cable. http://teradek.com/products/battery-with-barrel-adapter-to-2-pin-lemo?variant=1184516001
  4. Wanted to chime in with some Mini intel from the Teradek forefront. We've had a few of our new COLR units out in the field and on set. Immediately designed as a wireless LUT box which was envisioned to be living on a DIT cart or monitor. Turns out there's an application for it ON camera. We'll have some more documentation in the near future as it seems to be a popular workflow, but just want you all to be aware! In addition to its ability to apply and store LUTs, operators have been playing with the Gig-E port. With this, they're connecting directly to the Mini and taking advantage of the latest SUP 3.0 firmware and camera control functions. Here's a silly little hype video we were able to briefly capture during our last visit to Abel. https://vimeo.com/147792588 But as I mentioned, more info to come, if you have any specific questions or clarifications, please don't hesitate to shout!
  5. You are correct that the LUTs are loaded into the Rx's. Teradek is definitely interested in being a more integral part of the LUT workflow. I'm not sure how much this interests you, but we recently announced (to put it short) a LUT-box with wireless control which we've titled COLR (pronounced... color..... hah). You can find all the details here. http://teradek.com/pages/colr With COLR, your LUT/CDL's are controlled wirelessly via Pomfort LiveGrade over a WiFi connection that COLR generates (or can join). Natively integrated and adjustments are immediate. There's an SDI and HDMI input which can come from a video source whether it be directly from a camera or on the receiving end of a Bolt. Then shoots out the graded image over SDI and HDMI. An immediate use is for a DIT distributing to village and a variety of monitors that often times don't have integrated LUTs. Has a similar built-in up/down/cross convertor like we find in the Bolts so monitor compatibility is strong. The COLR boxes can be planted at the monitor with a Bolt Rx, ideally removing another cable with the whole on-set workflow from cart to village. Of course, by creating these LUTs and presets, they can be easily loaded onto the Bolt Rx's as well. Curiously enough, COLR is also being implemented as an on-camera device as well. It's no larger than a deck of cards. It also has a Gigabit ethernet port which can able used as a gateway for camera control. The most immediate application is with a RED and using the FoolControl app. But we're seeing more and more cameras being released with this as a protocol for camera control. I believe the Alexa Mini has one as well. Anyway, just a look into what Teradek is doing in the LUT world. And it's all a part of the "connected set" initiative as we aim to synchronize the on-set workflow. And yes, Bolt included!
  6. Domenico, I'm sure there's a lot to take in at the moment, but I definitely want to encourage you to reach out to the manufacturers you're planning to invest in. I know there are a few members here in this forum that work for many of the manufacturers that you mention. Please utilize me as a contact for Teradek and I can be a gateway for any Paralinx or SmallHD questions for now. I think one of the best parts of this Steadicam Forum is that we're surrounded by a wealth of knowledge and expertise, particularly from operators who use these tools everyday. In my opinion, it's extremely powerful and necessary to continuing the craft! So when you are ready, please do not hesitate to reach out. And again, I do encourage you to reach out to the other manufacturers you plan to have in your kit as it will give you the best opportunity for support and making the right investments. Andrew

  11. Hello Steadicam Forum, Over the past few years, Teradek has found an appreciation for the community and individuals here in the SteadicamForum. Whether it be excellent technical discussions regarding our technology or feedback to create new products like the Bolt Sidekick! The value of direct client and user interaction has become one of our top priorities and we look forward to creating more opportunities to continue this type of synergy. That being said, we're excited to announce the Grand Opening of the new Creative Solutions Los Angeles (CSLA) showroom. 12. Thanks all! Great question. Other than not having the option for multiple outputs (SDI,HDMI & USB 3.0), there will not be frame rate/resolution conversion and most likely no test patterns. Keep in mind, like the 300 receiver, you will still have an OSD using the toggle switch to allow for in-field pairing.
  13. The day has come! As promised, Steadicam Forum members will have the first opportunity to pre-order the new Bolt Sidekick - a lightweight universal companion receiver for all current generation Bolt 300/600/2000 systems. And, as an extra token of our appreciation, we’ve worked together with the SmallHD team to get you guys a sweet deal on a monitor to go-along. With a pre-order of any Bolt Sidekick (SDI or HDMI) and verification of a previously-owned Bolt transmitter, members will receive 20% off SmallHD’s AC7 OLED SDI monitor. No quantity limit. Discount also applies to the AC7’s Anton Bauer plate and monitor hood. You will receive a coupon code once your order is placed for your Bolt Sidekick. Please use the following link to pre-order your Bolt Sidekick: http://teradek.com/collections/special-pre-release-sidekick Also, note that AB/V Dual Battery adapters ARE available and you can find them under the Accessories/Power Options tab. Just select the Type as Sidekick Rx. Bolt Sidekick units will start shipping mid-October. As a courtesy, I would like to let you know that our next set of pre-orders will go to our entire client base of current gen. Bolt owners. While that might include many of you on this thread, you can go to the top of the fulfillment list by ordering before the next wave. The next pre-order wave will most likely occur October 6th while public availability will be around October 13th. Please feel free to follow-up with any questions here or directly. Thanks, Andrew

  15. Matthias, we are aware of Sony utilizing a modified RS-422 protocol. We're looking into supporting Sony's non-standard bit rate, but no promises there just yet. Current suggestion would be to try utilizing a CNA1, but we understand it's not ideal. That being said, we've successfully hooked up a Panasonic ENG via RS-422 to an RCP box. The current Beam manual explains the options available, but it doesn't exactly spell out the steps to CCU/Camera connection. Check out page 13/14 for the options. You can download it here. It seems like it's a case by case for these cameras out there nowadays, never the same steps for each one. That's why I do suggest getting in contact so our engineers can chat with you first to really dig into a workflow. Not just trying to make a sale, but actually interested in spending some time to really investigate the ideal workflows for CCU/Camera communication so we can make any adjustments where need be.
  16. Hey Daniel, Definitely feel free to give myself or any of my Teradek colleagues an email or call. As Dan Kanes mentions, the Teradek Beam may be a solution. It was created to be a wireless video transmitter with more broadcast oriented features including RS-422, Ethernet and yes, IFB. That being said I know the Beam has been utilized in many cinema scenarios as well. One of our engineers can talk through the specifics of your cameras and how we can get tally through. Andy@teradek.com is my email if you want to get in touch.
  17. Brett - I understand your request, will see if there is still some time to put in some input. Makes sense, I guess we shouldn't assume if they have AB mount, that they will also have V mount. I agree!
  18. In this photo, we used one of our Sony L series Swit batteries that we sell. It has a barrel output so we can tap off and get to 2-pin lemo. While it may not be the most efficient battery, it sure felt nice a lightweight. I've spoken with SmallHD to confirm there will be an AB plate adapter for there 702. So that will be coming down the pipeline shortly.
  19. To all, I’m pleased to inform you that Teradek will release a lightweight companion receiver for Bolt that we’ve developed based on much of your feedback in this forum and with those who have reached out to me directly. You can find the original thread here http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=21932. We will be announcing this at the IBC tradeshow in the upcoming days. I want to make sure Steadicam Forum has the first glimpse and detail of what we are calling the Bolt Sidekick. The Bolt Sidekick will be compatible with all 2nd gen transmitters Bolt Pro 300/600/2000 and will have the requested 300ft. line of sight transmission range ideal for director's monitors. More specs below. As a thank you to the forum, I will be organizing an exclusive pre-order window for Steadicam Forum members in the upcoming weeks. You will have access before the general public. And yes, I am absolutely trying to work in a sweet SmallHD bundle for you! Please feel free to post/send me any preliminary questions either in this thread or to me directly. I am currently in Amsterdam preparing for the trade-show but I will be checking back regularly as much as I can to answer any questions. To me, this product means a lot - still after 3+ years at Teradek, I’m proud to know I am working for a company that will listen to its customers, value feedback (including mine) and industry standards. Additional photos here: https://www.dropbox....DSO63s1tja?dl=0 Cheers, Andrew Ng Bolt Sidekick SDI - $1990, HDMI - $1790 Available in SDI or HDMI 300 ft. Range Line of Sight Pairs with 2nd Gen. Bolt Pro 300/600/2000 Transmitters Fanless design 7-17V Range 2-Pin Lemo Power ¼ 20” Female Mounting 9 oz Pairable in-field AB/V Plates Available Price - TBD Since this receiver was designed with intentions of a director's monitor solution, we understand the need for a streamline mounting/power system. Similar to our current Rx battery plates, we will have plates available which mount the Sidekick, but also allow for AB/V passthrough to power your monitor. The receiver itself is smaller than an AB/V plate, so we figured keep it as small as possible for all situations and if need be have this solution as an option.

  21. Just a quick update. There has been some progress in developing this solution. While still not 100% confirmed, our mechanical engineers have moved forward with designing and printing up some SLA's for concept. So far, the general consensus of your inputs have been included, so thanks again for the feedback. It's still a matter of making sure the electronics will fit, perform as expected and navigating the chip design. Again, please feel free to reach out to me. Any feedback with this I can still throw in, but also on any other Teradek related questions. On a last note worth mentioning in here, we had a last minute special for the July 4th weekend. In case any of you were in the market for a 2000 Dual Input, you get a free SmallHD AC7 OLED SDI. Don't want to seem too pitchy, so here's the link with more info if you're interested. I'll be on my email all weekend, so please reach out. And most of all, enjoy the independence weekend everybody!
  22. Hi all, Spoke to our head of engineering today, he's currently speaking with our hardware and chipset designers to confirm compatibility. So the research is being done to make sure this will work as desired, next step is DESIGN. But nothing concrete yet. Will keep you posted. On another note, how many of you be attending the Stabilizer Gear Expo the Sunday after Cinegear? Considering locking down myself or another Teradek representative to be out there.
  23. Thanks to all the input over this past weekend. Please know your voices have been heard by the head of engineering. I was happy to hear it is in Teradek's best interest to produce something to satisfy this need for our customers, but do keep in mind there are challenges in hardware and FCC restrictions that we will be working to overcome. Will continue to push for a solution. Always feel free to reach out to me and the entire Teradek organization. And make sure to stop by the Teradek booth at Cinegear, I'll be there and would be happy to meet you all in person.
  24. This feedback is great. I plan on taking these to our engineers on Monday. So if there's anymore today, I can tack them on. I'm also the one rigging up all our demo/tradeshow gear for Teradek. When I get a chance to work on set, I'll bring these to run them through their paces, make sure they're practical. That being said, I've actually had the opportunity to work with both the DP7 native handles and Wooden Camera cage. I ended up preferring the DP7 handles because it kept the system fairly minimal. The nice thing about it also was being able to mount the receiver vertically, as the AB plate on the SmallHD could be vertical. However, it all felt very unbalanced since everything is stacked to one side. The Wooden Camera cage gets the job done with every other monitor, but from my experience seems to get loose over time. Here's a question, both these accessories are shipped with neck straps... do Director's actually end up using them? In my experience, they haven't, but what do you guys think? Also, if you could put an estimated measurement to it, how far will these director's monitors be from the transmitter on average? Thanks!
