  2. hey yall i am looking to purchase a steadicam stand, preferably the american grip LS30 or LS32 as well as some backstage 8" pneumatic wheels. i have an order with american grip but its taking week to fill so if someone has one used to sell ill take it! ive used the Modern brand, not interested brett.

  4. So I learned how the lemo connectors work and how the pinout orientation is established. Very logical, i like it. brett.

  7. hey yall does anyone know the camera pinout on the new Pro CineLive upper junction boxes? i have looked in the manual on the pro website, and it appears to be a 3pin lemo 1S and I believe on the rig its actaully a 3pin 1B... anyone know the facts? brett.
  8. After speaking with Jack and trying out differrent operating positions, I think that I am just on the shallow side of the learning curve with this new arm. What I probably need to adjust is the position of my gimbal hand and open the arm up a little bit. For the time being I am tryin out some felt padding on top of the existing bumpers. Ultimately this is probably a poor crutch and I want to learn past this but it is a good temporary solution and has cut down the bump sensation by at least fifty percent. Jack and the Pro team were very quick and helpful. This is an arm unlike any other and its really beneficial to revisit the basics while learning my way into some new gear.
  9. Hey yall I recently outfit myself with an Atlas arm, my last few arms were G40 and G50x First off, the arm is amazing, but we already know that. However I am experiencing the result of something that may be too good about the arm: The elbow has so little friction that it is actually laterally bouncing against the lower arm, which is translating into tiny "taps" on the sled with almost every step. It is as if the inertia of the upper arm is carrying it away from me, then my foot lands, and the lower arm catches up, thus the tap. This is somewhat overexplaining it, but its how I imagine it. I am trying to get a video of it, but its a little hard while carrying the sled, but Ill update later when Ive devised somethin. The post is loosened so that the Atlas "wrist" can move freely (I have also tightened it with no change in elbow performance) The sled weighs in close to 39 pounds and I am using two grey canisters appropropriately tightened for the load. The G-series arms have great elbows, but under load there was a bit more friction, so it took some effort to articulate the elbow, thus it wasnt bouncing. Is this a result of my operating, stepping, looseness in the arm...? Any information is helpful Have a good one brett.
  10. Hey Elie At one point in time I was told that my receiving monitor needed a newer firmware to work consistently with the WEVI. I dont think this ended up being the case, but perhaps theres a monitor issue to consider. we talked to the guys at IDX who really helped resolve the issue.
  11. this needs to happen in los angeles. i just finished cleaning all my markers. the high velocity fields are great
  12. Hey Martin Im not sure where you are located, but if you are looking to rent that SRI WHDI I dont see it available anywhere in Los Angeles, so you may be looking to purchase or rent from an owner. While the Teradek has its applicaitons, I have experienced delay in the past. Maybe newer models are better, but I quickly abandoned it. The Paralinx is super simple to use and has been reliable on every occassion Ive used it. I personally own the CamWave (CW-5HD), and while I am not 100% satisfied (occassional signal drops, bulky size) it does the trick. There is an updated CW-7HD which Im sure is better. Boxx Meridian is pretty high end and Ive never heard a complaint. Are you looking for HDMI or SDI transmission? Ultimately it doesnt matter too much, because there are converters for that sort of thing, but I like less knots in the rope. The lack of support and available information on the SRI model concerns me enough to entertain other kinds of transmitters, but if you are able to sample it, then I wholeheartedly support that. If you have a good experience with it, then maybe its the right one for you. Sorry I cant give you any specific information regarding the SRI. I personally place a lot of importance on available reviews, support, and hands-on experience.

  17. Hey yall I am looking to pick up a Steadicam stand, like the American Grip version. I will consider the LS30 (1-riser) or LS32 (2-riser). I am also intersted in wheels if youve got them. Preferably some that will roll over cabling, etc. like those Backstage 8" I would also consider a magliner or innovativ cart with the proper fittings for steadicam I would love to get them this week if possible. 23. hey yall i only recently started to freelance. before february, i was working full time for a company that would send me wherever the clients wanted, etc. i believe they were charging "travel rates" which were undisclosed to me. i currently live in los angeles, for context on the following. i have two similar questions: -if the production is taking me to a non-local location, how should i adjust my day rate and kit rental for travel days (the 2 days of flying in and out of a city)? slash it in half? drop kit rental...? -if the production is willing to pay for travel and accommodations in one of my local cities (e.g. atlanta) and is planning on paying full rate for the working days, should i charge for the travel days since i cannot work those days? and again, full rate or cut? thanks for your help on this. brett.
