  1. Hi Erwin Where did you find the manual? Is it available for download on a website somewhere? I have an old Seitz i'm trying to breath back into life as a backup but could do with some info regards leads pinouts etc. If anybody has a manual available please contact me. Any help would be appreciated. Is there any where on the net that has a storage base for Steadicam related manuals? The guild website etc. Would it be a viable idea to create one? I.m sure there are many old bits of kit out there that have been seperated from the manuals and an infomation resource would be very useful (so we all don't have to keep asking Erwin). Maybe the the original makers of kit would like to contribute too? I know I used seeing the old manuals page on the Tiffen site. Nothing got posted in the end, now it's gone. Thanks Anthony
  2. should say omega system, Honest.... But can't edit my post! Ant
  3. Mia Maybe You could pop round to the MK-V USA/EUROPE/ASIA stand with Eric just to say Hi! You can have a look at the new Ohmygod system! Ant What.....
  4. the varizoom demand if your interested. http://www.varizoom.com/products/controls/vzrockex.html Ant
  5. Hi Afton The EX3 and 1 both use a non sandard zoom demand input. There are controlers out there to let you control it though. I believe Varizoom make one. You can use pro broadcast lenses on the EX3 though. It uses 1/2inch lenses not 2/3inch, you can use a 2/3inch lens with an extra adaptor. The 1/2inch lens adaptor comes with the camera in the UK (at least mine did). This does have a magnification factor though if you use a 2/3inch lens so be carefull with your choice of lens. As all (well most) broadcast lenses have there zoom demand built in you can use the respective controler for these lenses fuji 8/12 pin or canon 8 pin etc. Just make sure if you get a 1/2inch lens you get a sony hotshoe mount type lens as I don't remember noticing the hirose connector for a lens connection... This camera with a pro35 makes a very interesting and good combo! Blew our old F350 XDCAM HD into the weeds. Ant
  6. Well as there was only one owner of MK-V modular systems. Ding Ding Ding I think we have a winning answer!!! Why dump a whole company who's name people knows to lose modular systems and to add europe instead when you can change a company name no problem...... Ant
  7. Hi all Just to show that this is true. A legal listing that has to be posted by companys who are going into insolvency. Just to make sure ther are no "legal" question marks about my statement!!!! MK-V Modular systems are going into insolvency.... Proof 1) http://www.gazette-online.co.uk/issues/590...761759/all=mk-v Proof 2) http://www.ukdata.com/company-credit-repor...MS-LIMITED.html Discuss..............
  8. Hi All Not sure how this has remained quiet but it shouldn't! A quote from a reliable source "Breaking News: MK-V announces it is going bust on 6th March and is being wound up in court while defending a lawsuit from a former employee. Admits it can't afford to pay any fines etc. and will be winding the company up." Now as an ex worker at MK-V can I be the first to say YAY! I have first hand seen how the customer service works at MK-V and it a disgrace to all the other people who service this small community. I for one am glad this has happened. I have also seen the denial of any problems with gear to customers. Even to the engineers who work there. So much so that they get fired if they try to say something is wrong! Anthony Disgruntled Employee of the month (Mr Eric Fletcher may get that one!!! lol)
  9. Hi Charles Hope these help a little http://www.atbshop.co.uk/productdetails.ph...448&cat=acc http://www.atbshop.co.uk/productdetails.ph...449&cat=acc A little more expensive but all metal parts in the buckles so can take some heavy use. Ant
  10. Hi Just a quick note to say after some web server issues the new workshop video is now up and working. If you want to take a look at what you could be doing if you decide to take the MK-V Workshop it's at www.mk-v-workshops.com As you can see a good time was had by all. Plus we had wind shipped in just for the outdoor days to make it that little bit harder. :P Ant
  11. Hi Yeah FedEx screws up too! I was doing an interview a couple of years ago. During the interview the person who we spoke to told us about FedEx loosing there "parcel" whilst going through US customs....... The thing being the "parcel" was a couple of ton Monster Truck......! How in the Hell do you loose a Monster Truck it's not like it's a set of car keys?!?!?!? I wonder if it's sat in some back room in an office somewhere? Ant
  12. Hi We have one in the hire kit at MK-V. The range is probably about 100 meters line of site. About 40-50meters through 2 soundstage walls. The Unit is in the 5Ghz range. It also has the usefull feature of letting you know on the transmitter when it's lost contact with the reciever. When audio is transmitted through the sender it delays the audio too so it stays in sync. If the unit is being used for film work we hire it with the "Behringer Shark DSP" which delays the audio from the sound bods to the director etc so they recieve them both at the same time. It aslo has the usefull function of going between in V-Lock mount and the battery if you wish. Regards Ant
  13. Hi Yes we have the flyer socket block adaptors in stock at MK-V. You could fly all day using a flyer and a Backmount vest. It would also let you use any normal front mount vest of course. So you would have all the benefits of ratchet buckles etc. We also have the arm post adaptor too made out of high grade alluminum as personally I would tust an expensive sled and camera on a bit of tube glued together! or any sled and camera for that, all for the sake of saving a couple of bucks!!!! Regards the Lite sled it is 12/24v switchable and also has HDSDI down the post it will fly everything from a lightweight DV cam upto IMAX..... Not on a flyer arm though! Regards Ant
  14. Hi Regards the flash mag position. Personally I would go with mag on the back, as on top makes for a high camera CG. Which means you will need a longer post to get your balance (I prefer a short post so it may be different for others) or more bottom weight. It can also make balancing a bit fun having a high CG as a little adjustment on the topstage as a larger effect with a high CG. Ant
  15. Hi Due to Howard Smith being booked to use the AR on "Harry Potter" and Chris McGuire being offered a feature shoot in the US, The UK based MK-V Workshop has had to be put back to the week commencing the 11th of December. Regards Anthony
  16. The MK-V Beginners course is £500. You will get to use everything from a Flyer to the Top of the range rigs. The date has now been moved to the 11th of December too! Email me for more info at ant@mk-v-hire.com or call on +44(0)1204 570 380 Thanks Ant
  17. I don't know if it has brightness and contrast from memory but check them first. Also if possible check the wires from the topstage to the monitor havn't come away at any of the solder points or snapped along there length. Ant
  18. Typo on the number it's +44 (0)1204 570 380 Ant
  19. I think we have gone off track from the original question anyway! The question was for a focus option for fujinon/canon lenses. Zoom control being a luxury! As mentioned the options are at the moment:- For zoom and focus (wired) Stanton zoom focus unit at $1785 The J7 zoom focus combo (discontinued but may be available from a few suppliers) at about £550 (used maybe less) The Vocas zoom focus not sure of price. For zoom (wired) J7 zoom only Varizoom Bebob Bartech Buz For wireless focus Bartech MK-V Scorpio Chrosziel Preston Plus probably loads more I can't think of at the moment! For wired focus Apart from the J7 I can't think of anything That said the J7 focus really needs the J7 zoom to attach to the gimble correctly But for a cheap and chearful wired focus zoom combo that is designed for the job the J7 takes some beating, it's small and light compared to the competition. It's a shame they are discontinued! Regards the FMG/MK-V motors, no they aren't tacho motors so yes they will be great for focus systems but not the best solution for zooming on broadcast lenses. Why waste a perfectly good zoom motor that comes with all broadcast lenses anyway. Just use a zoom demand like the J7 etc. Ant
  20. Hi Just to point out that the J7 is available with a dial on the bottom to control focus on lenses with it available (most modern broadcast lenses with focus servos built in). Or lenses that have an add on focus servo available for studio use. Alec may I also ask how does your M-One performs sound wise (I presume you own one). The ones I tried (3 different ones) were fast and powerful however they were amazingly noisy. So much so we couldn't use them for sound work in any way. Does anybody else have thoughts on the noise produced by motors. Anthony
  21. MK-V Hire in the UK also has a few J7 zoom and focus units left for the canon lens. They are a lot more compact on the gimble handle than the Stanton or Vocas. Anthony
  22. Hi Just realised I said dovetails, I meant to say snap plates are pants! Ant
  23. Hi Andrew Assuming it isn't the camera mounting (as most dovetails are pants) It could be your monitor. They seem to be quite loose on most masters i've come across. Next time your dropping in bring your rig in too and we can try and track it down. It can help to have somebody else looking over the rig whilst it's being worn as checking it whilst stationary or wearing the rig yourself can be a slow process. Don't suppose you have the footage or access to it? Ant
  24. Hi People with EFP rigs may find this of interest!!! http://www.mk-v.com/efp_upgrade.html It would allow the use of the range of MK-V posts. Hope this helps in your quest David. Regards Ant
  25. The ops I know of are the MK-V operators: Shaun Savage (English), Iberio Cruz (French I Believe), Fiachra Judge (Irish), Nick Bennet (English), Bruno Vilde (french) thats all I can remeber at the moment. Chris Isn't there this year. The 35mm Film cameras are probably there for sponsers of players (Nike, adidas etc) for use in there adverts. Ant
